Herders

I have an old Herders jackknife with a spear point and a broken blade but have seen other blades like this now,the tip is squared off as if after it got broke they shaped it for a purpose,the point of the square is midway between the cutting edge and the spine of the blade forming a square point.this is a great site as I have lots of knives to research and getting more all the time.

Herter’s was a mail-order sporting goods store located in Waseca, MN. I don’t know if their brick-and-mortar store was any good or not. It wasn’t much of a drive from Minneapolis, but I never heard anybody talk about making it a destination. Their goods were generally middle-quality, but Herter was a huckster; in his catalogs, everything was the best.

Loved the old Herter's catalogue, wish I had one now. I used to drool over the descriptions.
