Everywhere a locked thread. Old Mike Turber had a forum EIEIO.(I couldn't stop)

I've noticed a lot of locked and moved threads lately, and I think the moderators are doing a heck of a job keeping the posts on topic. Keep up the good work!

and on that forum he HAD some trolls EIEIO.

They do a great job don't they.
Way to go Mike, Spark and co.

IMHO, the moderator here are doing a good job of keeping things both tidy and under reasonable control.

Threads that appear in clearly wrong places are gently moved and no thread is closed without clear cause.

With well over 3000 memebers here, a little administration is required.

Guys,

Your sentiments are appreciated

! Admittedly I stepped on it somewhat initially by assuming (yeah, I know) that folks would simply read the indicators about a thread being moved. I was properly chastised publically and have amended my ways by adding specific comments about why I was moving things. More often than not the relocation has helped garner better responses. Occassionally not. But we try. The hardest are those borderline threads that have already run up double digit responses. They really shouldn't have been here but they are already entrenched so I tend to leave well enough alone. (As an example the "Do you ever wonder...? thread should really have be in the Community Center).

The biggest problem is time. Trying to keep up with this monster forum and still remain fully active in the others that hold special interest for me is tough. I'm glad Mike and Spark pop in to augment what James and I try to do. But what really is nice, and you guys already cited it, is that despite the large number of members and posts, this place is relatively self-policing. I constantly am commenting on how well folks operate here. It is one of the premier examples of how large numbers of contributors with widely diverse opinions can join in active dialog without having to resort to flames and other such nonsense. Take a look at Rob Simonich's apology thread to get a taste of the kind of cloth folks here are cut from. This place really is great

I disagree. I see some threads remaining that are off topic, and I see others being closed, when they should of remained or at most been moved.

Of course with a private company like this, the owners can do whatever they want. Who am I to disagree? After all, I am only a guest.

Hey I just noticed those neat Icons are gone! I think they brightened up a rather dull looking list of posts.

Happy Trails...

Some may seem to be in the wrong place but this discussion,IMO, here is off the Blade Discussion Topic. So should they move it? I don't even care to try to decide. Let Mr. Turber and others make the right move. And if you all don't like that, or any other move, let him know. And tell him where you think he messed up. I sure would not complain unless I knew I had a solution to the problem.
IMO I think they are doing a great job.

Bob and James do a great job with this forum, and Mike and I are always willing to step in whenever something comes up as well. It's all part of being a team.

As for why some threads are closed, and some aren't, just because one off topic thread wasn't closed doesn't give you the right to start another. It's not a legitimate reason for creating it, and not a defense against it being closed. If you see a thread that should be closed, notify the moderators or Mike or myself.

In the mean time, we'll be practising our laisse-faire style of management, only stepping in when it needs to happen.
