Again, not bad Geoff! But who's Allen? Just kiddin'

.

Just a couple of tips here, you might find it easier to design with a mechanical pencil and a compass would make curves and holes more uniform

Well Gunner, its a nice switch that no are no longer trying to beg a knife anymore. I think your best bet for getting one is to continue with designing. They may not be earth shattering designs, but in my humble opinion, there seems to be potential. I only can speak as an armchair quarterbeck as I am niether maker nor designer, but I personally like this one: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=379860&a=3841744&p=18824851&Sequence=0

Perhaps you could shed a little more info on it. How thick do you intend it to be?

Is the idea behind the tip supposed to be kind of a hybrid drop point tanto or what?

I would like to see any additional comments you have on it.

Richard

I don't know what happened there...anyway:

1) Camputility- Looks pretty well-proportioned. Is the tip a modified tanto of some sort, or just a very short clip? What's the reasoning behind it? Handle loooks pretty good, but I would enlarge and deepen the finger notch and make it a little less "blocky". If the scales are pretty thick and nicely contoured, it would be really comfortable.

2)Edge1- The handle comes off looking incredibly short and fat for the rest of the knife. I like the exposed "hammer tang". I have two knives like this and I like them both very much. A lanyard hole in the guard? I have never seen that! Does it work, is it practical? Actually, my Greco MST II has a hole in the guard...I'll have to see how a lanyard functions here. Interesting! I think you should lengthen the handle a bit and slim it down. I am not a fan of the sawback blade, but I understand you were making these ala TOPS.

3) Edge4- again, the handle is way too short! Maybe you crammed it in so It would fit on that paper? Anyway, I think you were on the right track with the way you showed the blade in Edge1. The elements in Edge 4 just don't make sense together: the fact that the back is a saw seems to imply it is aimed as an outdoors survival knife. Therefore, the tanto tip is useless. That original spear-point is much more practical for a survival type knife. If it is intended to be a "street knife", then the sawback is pretty useless. See what I mean? That first blade was the better design...

Anyway, these drawings are a lot better than the first set, in my opinion. This "edge" knife shows an interesting progression from picture to picture, but I think your first one, Edge1 was the most practical. Good work! I think that Camp Utility was a really good design, potentially, too, especially if you could get nice, thick, highly contoured micarta slabs on there like Newt Livesay's stuff.

Geoff,

I just spoke with Mike Fuller of TOPS. He asked me to post the the truth on his behalf.

He did not ask you to do some designs. He said you sent him some sketches (much like 20 or 30 other folks do each week). You called him and you asked him for a large knife in exchange for the sketches.... begging again?

He will be calling you.

He also said you claimed to be a wilderness instructor (untrue) and that you could "do him a lot of good" I wonder how you could accomplish that feat.....

Please stop dropping names as you did with Mike and you did with me when we discussed your Ghillie suit ideas. I never said I was going to put your suit in my videos and Mike never asked you to do a design for him.

Please Geoff, pay attention to the scripture you quote.

Ron

Geoff,
I have tried to stay out of all of the controversy you seem to generate simply because I felt sorry for you. Frankly, I have never been able to figure out why you think a Busse Battlemistress will make you better at survival than a $40 Ka-bar or Spec-Plus bowie. Maybe one day you will figure out that the knife means very little and the knowledge means very much. That's all beside the point though. What Ron Hood said really turns my stomach. I don't need to preface it with "if it's true" either. Ron Hood and Mike Fuller's names are backed by a truckload of integrity. What they say tells me that you will do absolutely anything to get something for free. It also tells me that you are a first class liar. I don't feel sorry for you anymore. I pity you.

Ron, you beat me to it, Mike and I discussed this very subject a week or two ago as well........
