Both of them came from a collector in unused condition. Other than being "old" they are in great shape though there are a few places that need buffing from being in the sheaths too long in a humid place without getting the right attention. Both knives lived in Hawaii prior to my purchasing them. Other than the few tiny places in need of a buff though, they are really nice blades.

First one, top, is and R-10. I really like this one for its simplicity and because it is a basic camping sort of knife. This is a user for me and not just one for the collection. This one is going directly into my camping gear. Not that I do much camping anymore with my screwed up back. :(

This one is a traditional "full tang" knife too, as you can see here:

Here it is in hand...

I will follow up with the Kumar Karda next...

Next is a Kumar Karda. While more of a collection knife due to its ornateness, this knife really feels nice in my hand and has great balance. I am tempted to carry it as IN has very liberal knife laws. I am quite pleased with this knife as well. It is a real beauty!

I am truly pleased to add both of these sweet knives to my fledgling HI collection. I am really happy that I have started own this road finally and look forward to many years of enjoying these fine products! :D

Very nice.

IMO the R-10 is the finest knife HI makes. Pair it with a good kukri, and you can conquer the wilderness (or your backyard).

The Kumar Karda is a nice knife as well. Mine is larger, with about 8" of blade. It's like a Leuku on 'roids.

Great start to the collection.

Thanks warty for the excellent photo's, those of the R-10 have brought this outstanding little knife to my attention for the first time!

My hope is to get the entire "R" series of knives eventually if I can. I am also anxious to get one of the Trisul "Boot Knives" as well but being fairly new to this I am wondering if they still are made at all. With the loss of Bura, will the "Bura Bowies" be made any longer? This is another knife I had a lot of hope to get one of someday. In fact, I am hoping the whole Kami situation turns around and hat things get back on track and I am able to build a collection up like many of you already have now. The secondary market tends to be one of high mark up and that means it puts them out of my reach since I am not able to work (income is quite limited). So here's hoping! :)

Great knives:)

The R series is a great workhorse line. I love the R-6 which is basically a SARGE with a full tang.

If you want a Trisul, just let Yangdu know. I had a 14" Trisul made a year or so back, and I love it. Not really "good" for anything, but as a defensive blade...watch out:eek: Like you said, Indiana has VERY loose knife laws;)
