Good luck. I expect to be hit tomorrow and perhaps next week if this thing loops around to hit us again.

Good luck yall from Loisiana.

Hurricane parties are fun but clean up rarely is. Even less so when your house is toast. All fun and games until an eye gets put out.

This thing is going to be a buzz saw riding northward along the coast. Good luck. Hope you all are prepared. Can't say that you're ever really prepared.

I hope everybody stays safe. By the looks of the weather, you shoulda bought two bottles.

I think 2 bottles woulda been a good idea.I do have a case of beer too. I been putting up plywood and doing more prep till just now.It is time to hunker down as the 1st rain band just started.Good luck all...I just saw over 130 dead in Haiti : (

If I lived in Melbourne FL, I would be thinking of getting the hell out of there after boarding up the windows. You're too close to the coastline. This is a CAT 4 hurricane. You need to respect the power of this storm. The Weather Channel said that when this thing gets close and you are on the beach or near it, you will die. Pretty scary kind of statement. FL officials are taking this storm VERY seriously.

Its over and done here. No problems except the power went out at 3:00am and still waiting for it to be restored. Hopefully those it is heading for will be as lucky as we were.

Yeah thankfully for yall that northeast quadrant stayed away.

Get ready for round two as a tropical storm though!

Hurricanes are a natural and reoccuring part of living in Florida. With the exception a few living on the barrier islands there is no need to evacuate; because, there is really no place to evacuate to. The entire southern half of the state sits just above the water line and you have an 8 hour commute between the southern end and the nearest border. Try doing that while the gas stations have run dry and the population panicked is a surefire way to lose the race. We don't have the road capacity for even 10% of such an exodus. After a while, you learn that the best thing to do is to relax, lay in the usual supplies, and remain indoors until the storm passes.

True and true. I have lived in Key West and central Fl. For 30 yrs. Not2sharp said it right.. I have never left Fl. But i have prepared. And live to tell the story.

Raining heavily here in Virginia Beach. The real strength of the incoming weather hasn't hit yet, but it's supposed to have lessened some. Have food, water, lighting and the rest.

Well shit our power has been out for the last hour..why i do not know.
I thought this sheet was over, hopefully it will be back soon. I am missising the A'C big time... I hate being hot!..altho i was able to restock my Morgan stash.

Mid afternoon here in S. Eastern Virginia (Beach). The rain's lessened to not much, but winds are at or around 35 MPH. Translates to lots of damage from wet ground and large trees falling on buildings and streets. Supposed to get better as the week proceeds. Let's hope for a calm break from all of the weather!

Almost end of story, clear skies and wind has died. Lot of folks here in the Carolinas into Virginia still without power. Tons of downed trees, homeowners spending all day moving branches and leaves. Guess the old adage is; don't mess with Mother Nature!
