Just added a Sow Belly by Mike Tison from Florida to my collection, I think Mike is going to have to quit his day job and go full time into making knives, what do you think about his work? Here is my new baby.

I credit Coop for bringing Mike to my attention, I have asked Mike to join the Forums here, as far as I know, he only goes to shows in Florida and does not have a web site.

I sat next to Mike all weekend at the Knifemakers Guild show. He is a great guy and does some outstanding work. Anyone who likes high quality slipjoints should check him out.

Mike was first one at my table/studio on thursday as I was setting up for the Guild Show. He heard from a number of others that I could do him right and he wanted a first-rate photo of his first-rate work.

And it DID work. For both of us. Looky there.... ;)

Congrats James. Yours is a a good score by every measure.

Mike had sent me photos of the knives he had photographed and I used the wrong one in my original post, I am getting even a better looking knife than I posted. I guess I should have waited, but was just anxious to show his work, your photo is sooo much better, I know Mike was impressed. Thanks for your photos of the show, I really did enjoy them.:D

Congrats James. I was really impressed with Mikes work (at least from Coops pictures.)

I now have that sow belly in hand, the fit and finish is as good as I have seen. I have knives by some of the old greats. WT Fuller, Dick Dorough and Harvey McBurnette. Mike has reached their levels in many aspects, perhaps his knives are not as decorative as the others, but I can assure you all five blades of his fit well, do not rub, have snap to blades and feel just plain old good to the hand. I wish it was a user, but it is going to have to join up with Harvey, Dick and WT on my shelves.

I appreciate the nice comments, I think Mike is about to join the forums, I think he maybe a little intimidated by the good makers here. I have told him several times, join up, even sent him enough to buy a membership in the knifemaker bracket. He says he is a part time maker, and only can get enough knives built to go to shows in Fla. I told him, here he will get international exposure. Can't force him to join, but I have twisted his arm about all I can. Perhaps, someone else might encourage him to join. His email address is as follows slipjntmaker@yahoo.com just in case anyone wants to encourage him.:D:D:D
