This is one of my "yard knives". Used it to cut bamboo and brush last Sat, nothing extreme, didn't stick the knife anywhere, didn't pry, etc., just what I consider normal use. When wanting to sharpen it this morning I found this. Not a huge issue and not unfixable, but surprising nevertheless.

I guess I'll be using an FFG Manix 2 in the yard in the future ....

Roland.

I've never cut bamboo with a pocket knife. Isn't it supposed to be fairly rough stuff? Maybe it's just bamboo cutting boards I've read warnings about.

(Nearest patch is on my neighbor's property, but it hasn't yet crossed the creek (yet), thankfully.)

Yeah, I should clarify, these were bamboo shoots, maybe 1-2 inches thick, not as hard as dried bamboo .... the knife cut well, BTW, and has edge wear only in a couple of 2-3mm spots.

Obviously inadvertently struck something that wasn't a bamboo shoot.;)
That tip will be much tougher to break after it's repaired, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
And another tip, spend like twenty bucks and grab a machete with a much more malleable steel.

Machetes and goloks rock! (So do scythes.)

I use my FFG M4 Manix to cut open bundles of EMT, it occasionally makes contact with the pipes but never with much force. But apparently I did something that caused something I think resembles your blade's tip.

That is surprising. 4V is pretty tough stuff, but I suppose the tip is pretty thin on the Manix 2, especially with the sabre grind. Hope it sharpens out well for you!
