I've made the leap into the world of bushcraft fixed blades with a self-Christmas present of a BK-2. I immediately scoured the web for upgrades. It turns out, any google search that includes "BK2" will land you at this site. So, I've spent lots of time here researching the wisdom of these so called "Beckerheads."
Here's what I've done:
* Stripped (Aircraft paint remover)
* Patina (lemon juice, brown mustard)
* Micarta scales
* Tek-lok (removed flimsy nylon)
* Spyderco Shapemaker
Now, I'm researching a replacement sheath. During the search, I kept circling back to the Hedgehog Leatherworks Sheath for the BK2.
What a beautiful sheath. I want it so bad. I just can't afford it
I have no doubt the sheath is worth every penny. In fact, I watched the excellent video from Ian Atkinson of Leodis Leather showing all that's involved in creating such a sheath. If you haven't seen this video, I highly recommend it. There's a lot of skill and attention to detail that I simply couldn't have appreciated without watching the process.

I, also, recommend Ian's video on hand-stitching leather.

These are long videos, over an hour; yet, they're full of interesting aspects in this craft that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere outside of an apprenticeship in leatherworking. In other words, time flies and you gain some useful knowledge.
With that said, I'm still considering either the sheath from Hedgehog or the beautiful KCR Deluxe Scout Sheath from Sagewood Gear.
After watching the videos from Ian, I'm not quite sure how Sagewood can make such an excellent sheath and sell it for the price that they do. It's a very good deal. I think I'm leaning this way and just need to stop thinking about it.
Anyway, like I said...Here I am, Take My Money. I'm hooked. Once I order the sheath, I'll start obsessing about my next Becker. Bigger? Smaller?
Oh, and thanks to everyone for this forum. It's a very knowledgeable community. I have so much to learn.
