I've read and read and read a lot of threads about different Beckers. I would like a suggestion if that would be possible. I would like a do-it-all knife, I feel like the BK-2 is to much of a tank for my uses but maybe that is the one that would be best. It would be used for shelter construction, some batoning, food prep occasionally (slicing), misc household stuff (trimming some trees, etc). I am looking at the full size ones mostly. I know the best thing would be to just get multiple, but for now that cant happen. So I will have to settle for one. I think the best choices in my opinion are either the 5 or 7, but I could very well be wrong. Any suggestions, advice, questions, concerns are all appreciated!

Thanks!

My vote is for the 7 though for shelter construction and trimming trees you might want to consider the 9...

5, 7, or 9 will do you fine.

I am kind of partial to the 9 though.....

The 9 is a beast that is for sure. I would just be worried about carrying it for any length of time. Is that thought misplaced? Or is the 2 inches not enough to make a real difference?

Also, you could wait for the BK10. suppossed to be out soon, not sure when. It's BK2 sized but thinner.

Last I heard the BK10 is supposed to be out on April 15th, but that was about five weeks ago. The 7 would be a better chopper and the 9 better still. The 9 is the most versatile IMO and as close to a one-tool option as anyone is likely to find. Mora knives are super cheap so order one of those too and yer pretty well covered. If you shop around you can find the BK9 and a mora companion for under $100 shipped.

I would vote for the 9 as well. If there is one blade I had to grab for the woods that would be it. Throw in a necker like the 11 or 14 in the future and youre set. bigghoss' suggestion of getting a cheap mora to pair it is also a good suggestion.

I vouche for the BK-4,

It's the best all around, second chopper behind only the king, but can do finework better than it falling behind the tweeners and the 5, and for food preparing will be the most fun to use.( fun not easy)

If you're going to be trimming trees around your house I highly suggest you do it with a saw. Using a chopper can damage the tree and open it up to disease.

My suggestion is if you want to do what you listed and have a chopper get the 9.

If you want to do what you listed but you're going to use a baton rather then chop, get the 16. A do it all knife doesn't have to be big.

Bk-12! :D

I would like it to be one of the larger ones. But fire prep, shelter construction and food prep would be the main areas it woild need to work in (in that order) i like the 16 but would prefer a larger one to start with

Any time now I believe. I think it was supposed to be April.

Ugh lol well I was going to try and get a becker in a trade so the chances of me getting a 10 in a trade are slim to none haha. I will see what offers I get and go from there

Here's a few photos of the new 10. Not the best, as they're snapshots from a video:

Another vote for the 7 and 4. I have both and love'em. The 4 takes some getting used to "how" to use it but once you do it covers all the bases.
