Just ordered my first BK-15 Mini-Magnum Camp from Tomars :D

I'm freaking out. It's like waiting for puppies to be born.

Why would you drop this on us now? I was just about to go to bed. No way I'm going to get to sleep! Argh!

Congratulations! Any plans for it other than using it?

First of all, I'm going to make a fringed and beaded sheath for it to mount on my tomahawk rig. I'll probably make my own micarta handle slabs for it. Never worked with micarta before. Might strip it and patinate it too depending on if I like the new finish.

A few years ago I ran into these kids at work who were temps. Well not exactly "kids"; they were in their early 20's. What got my attention is how they dressed in a sort of hybridized late 19th century style. They called themselves Steam Punks. It was their hobby to take modern things and refit them somewhat to look like they were made in the late 19th century. Some of their work was actually very good.

I took this idea and went further back in time with it to an approach I call "Frontier Tactical".

The BK-15 is a perfect modern Roach Belly trade knife. It would be too cool to make it look like it was made in 1752.

Gotta love the 15. Think Im gonna have to get another one ;)

You'll love the 15. I haven't had a knife in a long time that had me looking for more ways to use it, like I have this one.

I know I will. It's like my favorite, the BK-5, but smaller and more nimble. With a 5.5" blade it's about the same size as other other knives I use a lot: Green River Sheep Skinners.

I'm loving my 15 and trying to wait patiently for a set of micarta grips that should be here soon.

I wanna see this when ya get done...sounds very cool.

Never thought I would see the words ''SteamPunk'' here LOL! I do like some of the SP style and items though, it's interesting... the movie ''Wild Wild West'' is chock-full of SteamPunk

It's something I had been doing for some time before I met those kids, but I never had a name for it. Trying to mix the best of today's stuff with Frontier Era stuff. There are some people who go all out for anything new but others, traditionalists, won't touch anything current. Why not take advantage of both? Many things are universal regardless of era or culture.

I made a fringed and beaded cell phone case for one of them and she loved it.
