Generally we have these in the spring but occasionally when the conditions are just right we get them in the fall. This is a little late in the year to be under a tornado watch!:grumpy:
There's a cold front coming in tonight and it is evidently setting the storms off.
Dan Koster is probably under the watch as well according to the report below...
Stay alert and be ready to hunker down Dan, and anyone else in the way.;)

Take care and hunker down if those sirens go off! My state made national news a couple of nights ago, with 6 towns hit by tornadoes. And our first fatality of the year. It was an elderly lady, I think, in her bed. Take these storms seriously, even though it's November. They are powerful and hit fast. And this time of year, they're especially dangerous. People just aren't expecting them so late.

Take care, and stay safe.

I'd guess the watch is over by now, but maybe not.
Snowed here and blew.

well....I'll be....

Can't say there's actually anything exciting going on outside here...but sure enough, I turn on the TV and my county is highlighted "Green" = Tornado Watch.

Wish I had a good way of remembering the difference between "watch" and "warning"....which one is worse....:(

All I know is....I'm peeved that I had to shut off my forge when a thunderstorm broke out at about 7 PM......Had all sorts of heat-treating ready to go...but nooooo....Mother Nature is so self-centered....:p

Watch means conditions are right, and warning means that there's actually (or pretty certainly) a tornado. Warning is the one that sets off the sirens and means that you should seek shelter. Watch doesn't mean all that much, but since it can change fast, you should keep an eye out.

Still storming off and on here. The red areas on the radar are mostly north of us but there is a small area to the south. Clicking on the large radar map the storms run from just south of Tulsa to the Kansas border, over into Arkansas and the greatest part in Missouri. There's also another large area up in mid Kansas but don't know which way it's moving.
So far it hasn't been to bad here but then I've slept for a little while too.
The warning lasts until 5:00 a.m. Central Time.

Another night of sever weather here. they talked tornadoes for a minute, but nothing came but storms and rain. those that were in the thick of it last week's twister i'm sure were scared last night. flashes and thundercracks all night...in november. that never happens here. usually, it's just heavy cold rain this time of year, if anything. 5-7" over night. the wife's civic was swallowed when bubba trodded through an 8" deep lake that had formed in front of a busy intersection at 40 mph in his pick-em-up truck. scared her to death with more than 30 miles to go. more rain all day here. it seems we have pissed off mother nature somehow. it's not nice to mess with mother nature.

God speed, y'all. snow, 'canes, 'natoes, keep us posted.

Looks like our first snow might come today. This, after a couple days ago we had tornadoes. Crazy dayumned weather!

Stay safe Edutsi!!

You know my second thought was "what if Yvsa and Barb evacuate the house, and worse case scenario the house is hit---imagine the flying storm of steel that poor neighborhood would experience"

All kidding aside I hope that all is well and no tornadoes come anywhere near you guys!!

I've been through both, and fear tornados much worse. If you're not in a flood prone/coastal area in a hurricane, then spinoff tornados are what you fear during the storm. If you are in the storm surge flood area you'd better get the hell out. You guys got my prayers too.

Well it never did get too bad last night. It's windy as hell this morning, wind out of the north at a steady 20 mph. Today we're under a wind advisory which means that folks in high profile vehicles need to be careful not to get blown off the highway.
Wind is forecast from 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
The cold front passed through around 6:00 a.m. or so this morning.
Barb went out to get the paper and it was 72*, an hour later or so it's 52* and dropping.
The temp is now 47 degrees, no wonder we were having storms last night.
Lots of energy when there's that much difference in temps hitting one another suddenly!!!!

Nothing here.....but the clouds were racing across the sky last night...still moving fast this morning and the sky is a wild blue-green.

A wall cloud formed just to the north with some rotation just 7 miles to the north of me. Nothing going on here, thank God. I work in a sheet steel building where the safest place to weather a storm is in the the bathroom with an outside wall. Everywhere else is glass or heavy shelves to fall and crush your bean.
Luckily, no storm and no tornato that I have heard about. All's quiet in the Ohio valley for now.

Jake?

You got all winter to have a storm cellar dug and set up. We WILL NOT have you go flying off somewhere over the rainbow looking for the wizard!

Sure 'nuff, first snow here. It's nice. I like snow. And this one is really pretty, with huge soft flakes. Supposed to get 3-6 inches over the next 24 hrs, plus about a 25mph wind. Should be fun! I like snowstorms. Too bad class won't be cancelled.
