Since i bought my recon 1 3 months ago ,it didnt cut anything except 3 a4 paper, and some stabbing to the notebook(not hard).I checked it 1 week ago and it has up-down play.(no pocket lint) I try to adjust pivot but no help. When i got it it was rock solid.
We consider normal slight up and down play at regular lockbacks but triad lock have stop pin isnt it?And blade play is uncommon on triad locks.Google brought me only 1 page when i put triad lock and up and down play words together:)
No i dont have the option of send back to the cold steel.Just wanna know wth is going on because it really pissed me off.

Mine did the same thing. Someone told me that 4 out 5 of his had the same thing.

i bought it from second hand so im not gonna be able to send to cold steel.(at least in my country)
that guy must be pretty unlucky :D
Strange thing is it was rock solid.Ah cmon worlds strongest lock developed play after stabbing newspaper? :D

You live you learn, and then you stay away from cold steel, Same thing happened to my recon 1,my voyager,my spartan, my ak-47 all had blade play issues. You want a real folder get yourself a Zero Tolerance.

None of my coldsteel folders ever had play, even after some pretty rough stuff.

Video or it didn't happen. You bought it used, how do you know the guy before you didn't do something to it? It's really hard for anyone to make a claim similar to this without somthing to back it up, aside from just a simple, " Trust me, I'm new here". I'm not totally discounting what you are saying, but there are so many variables involved.

Rock solid, blah-blah-blah...
In fact I do not believe that is critical in any way. Would not personally buy a knife just because it has some super-strong lock - as advertised. You probably liked it for something else as well?
Just consider it a regular back lock with its usual small play - nothing of any consequence. Still a strong folder and quite a good value. Particularly if second-hand.

i can shoot a video but its not something noticable in video.i buyed used but it was like brand new zero wear on coating, factory edge....
i buyed the knife cus of lock, ergonomics and price.
Lots of guys dont have blade play on their triad locks after hard use ,thats why its interesting to me.
Its still on my top 10 thought.

I've owned Cold Steel knives and haven't had any quality issues. Of course, I bought mine direct, not second hand. My understanding is that there are a lot of counterfeit Cold Steel blades on the market, especially outside of the US. Blade wobble is a sure sign of a counterfeit according to the company.

Lesson: Only buy knives direct from the blade maker or an authorized dealer.

Solution: Second hand goods still have a warranty under international (and your county's) law. So, you could possibly return it or file a claim with your national authority. Doubt it would be worth spending the money though. Or you could contact Cold Steel and send them the knife...and if its counterfeit, they can go after the douche who sold it to you.

i doubt its counterfeit. They are generally pretty easy to understand.Im gonna live with it.
i have a more technical question;
triad lock have stop pin like framelocks, liner locks. They dont have up and down play when cutting something cus stop pin absorve pressure.if they have play means sth is wrong with lock.
Same on triad lock. How its possible to have up and down play when pressure is transfers to the pin not the lock bar.its possible if the stop pin moves in the cutout on g10 handle imo.
Correct me if im wrong.

When mine had play the blade would not move up. It was always resting on the stop pin. However if I pushed down in the spine. The blade would come off the stop pin. If you did this rapidly with some force it would feel like up and down play. As far as I could tell it was only pushing down though. I contacted Cold Steel to ask them about the blade play. They never even returned my email. Lol I dont know what to think. I like the 19 dollar outdoorsman lite I have.

i dont have any play when i pushed on the spine.i have play when the pressure is towards to edge.(blade moves up)You know very common ''standart'' lockback problem.
your problem is more interesting thought:D

Yah I am not sure man. I can understand living in Turkey this makes it more difficult to send it in ect. I believe I heard other people talk of a wear in time. Over some use some stuff would wear down and the lockup would go solid. I am just shooting in the dark here so dont hold to all that haha.

haha yeah i can try that too.
btw happy new year to you and all guys/gals here on bf!
im going for dinner now^^

Did you take one of the liners and scales off to see what the problem is? It could be as simple as a little dirt or lint in the lock or maybe the locking bar hasn't been worn in enough.

not yet but will.i checked lint ,cany find anything but maybe something inside is wrong.thread have loctite on it and my crappy drivers ant turn the screws.im gonna buy some quality t6 and t8 drivers.
