Between these two old master kamis lies more than 100 years experience. You may recognize Krishna from a previous post. The fellow on the right is Gorkarka has only near 50 years experience. Both drop by the shop from time to time to advise and instruct, perhaps make a khukuri or part of one, and chat. Each has small shops of their own at their homes and do repair work and make a few farm implements, sometimes a khukuri. They are pretty much retired and are not interested in the fast pace of Kumar and the younger kamis.

How does a "Kami retire"? Do their families look after them? Is there any form of a pension plan in Nepal?

No pension plan in Nepal. Kids marry and most leave home but contribute to welfare of parents. And, these old fellows still work enough to make basic expenses.
