I can tell you the story that goes with this villager. Pradeep has been on a mission to help his parents who got flooded out during this year's monsoon. You may have seen on CNN it has been a tough one. On his way back to Surya Benai he picked up a few village models. This knife was hanging on the wall of some dirty little village arun. Pradeep made a deal to buy the khukuri but it had no karda, chakma, scabbard or frog. Usual for a village shop. The kami quickly made a poor quality karda and chakma -- you can see the fresh wood -- and sent Pradeep on his way. Scabbard and HI superfrog were made at BirGorkha but not by the sarki with no name.

So, now that we have the story what about the knife? It has a good fitting steel bolster and buttcap. Finish is pretty decent for a village khukuri. A little rust on bolster and buttcap but not serious. Tip has some rust that will take a little work to remove. The knife is about 17 inches overall with a 5 inch handle -- max from top of bolster to buttcap -- weight is about 1.25 pounds and thickness is 5/16. Blade is pretty tough, I'd guess, but edge hardness is only about 55 RC which is soft for a villager and too soft to be sold as a first line HI khukuri.

Take this villager as you see if for an even $50 delivered to your door. Remember, the edge is not as hard as we like them but it will still do a lot of work -- just don't do a lot of nail and bolt chopping with this one.

Call or email if interested.

I'll take it, Uncle Bill.

Not sure how I feel about that frog, though.

You can keep the scabbard, if you like.

Hey Uncle Bill!

I promise I will chop no nails or bolts with it.

Also, no lateral flex tests. (still feel bad about the original ram bahadur bishwakarma

)

If you would just send me the khukuri, karda, and chakma that would be fine.

No need for the sheath if the original maker didn't intend for it to have one.
