Here it is, the Ganga Ram Special. The 15 inch Sirupati is there for perspective. This is one of the finest khukuris I have seen come out of Nepal. Ganga Ram has shown us what 80 years experience can do.

This particular one is headed to Berkley. As you might be able to see Ganga has inlaid a yin-yang symbol on this handle and as I mentioned each handle is slightly different.

This particular khukuri weighs 2lb 13oz and is excellently done. Balance point is 10 inches back from the tip but I didn't use my thumbnail to check this -- had to use a piece of wood instead. You know, safety first. I think the weight of the blade might have done serious damage to the thumbnail and I would not risk it.

I don't know if you can see the scabbard well enough to see the difference but it is made out of THICK water buffalo leather which will become the standard for shop 2. Not only is shop 2 making the best khukuris in Nepal now they are making the best scabbards, too.

If anybody else is looking for a khukuri that is museum quality and tougher than nails -- literally -- you can place your order. Ganga said he is old but he is not dead yet.

Call or email if you want Ganga to make you one of these stellar khukuris.

That's simply stunning...
I just love the knurled work on the handle.
Simply beautiful.

Magnificent!

The karda and chakma look interesting. They have obviously been given greater attention than most. Any chance we can get some close-ups of them before they are packed?

What would you call this blade style?

What material is used for the inlays?

Good Lord!

It looks like a 20" AK on steroids.

Probably won't be able to break this one...

Up in the original post I put a closeup of a different handle with karda and chakma which are the best I've seen. Fully functional and highly polished.

Top quality workmanship on everything.

Berk's is packed so I can't tell you exactly what material is used for yin-yang -- probably couldn't tell if it was right here in front of me. But you have seen those little yin-yang earrings and necklaces, Howard, right in Ratna park where you used to play marbles with Krishna.

Blade style? Ganga Ram.

I'm sure it would be a different story if I were holding it, but I look at it and it reminds me of a Colt Python.

I can pick it up, take a deep breath, and then go "Aaaaahhh... now THAT'S the way they SHOULD be made." (Now I need to go and fondle my 8" nickel Python Target 38 spl.)

:
This is another one I talked over with my wife before I said okay.
I have never been so glad I ordered a special Khukuri before.
I am sure I will be saying that when the Banspati comes in too.And as Rusty has said "And the next one Uncle Bill puts up........"

I just can't imagine even with the pix.Waiting is sweet sometimes!
From the pic I printed off they look similar to the full fullered GS's.
What is the spine thickness on these Uncle Bill?

Special can't do justice to this beauty! The odd shape of the Carda/Chakma brings this to mind Uncle Bill: Is it possible to have a Carda(hope I don't have them confused)that actually works as a first class utility knife. I find myself bringing a short bladed utility knife into the field when I take the 15" AK(I know- you can't have too many knives!). Is there any way that the Kami's can make a first class small cutter to compliment their Kukris. I hope I'm not out on a limb by myself here.
Always a pleasure,
Sutcliffe

Yvsa, the blade is 1/2 inch thick at the spine. Ganga has made us a REAL khukuri here. They are a delight and I hear Ganga is having the time of his life in the shop. He enlisted his 40 year old nephew to help him with the heavy work.

Sut, you are not the first to ask for this option and it is something that we are seriously considering.

Wow, this makes me look forward to the Millenium special even more. Will that be done in shop two? Also, I noticed the Karda and chakma on my Sanu special forward curve to be better than all my others. I hope that we begin to see these, especially the karda border on a really useful and comfortable utility knife of about 5"-7" OAL with a good handle/grip.

The old kami is surely a master.

The Millennium Special will be done in shop 2 by Bura and his son, Prakash. They are the best two kamis in the shop and I am sure they will produce us another REAL khukuri.

And, Sing, yes the old kami is a true master.

Uncle Bill,
I just got home in time to read your email and get the check out in time for the mailman to pick it up. Then I logged on and came straight to this thread. In the famous words of Pogo: "Gosh-a-mickle dickle pickle, gee willy wobbles, and dog my cats!"

. Otherwise, words just fail me. I will be standing by the door waiting for the mail till it comes. I have a couple of khukuris I display on wooden stands, but I think I may have to get a glass case made for this one.

Namaskar Uncle Bill,

I too, will place an order for one GRS special. It is one beaut of a khukuri.

Thank you!
