Hello peoples,
Hehe..this will likely tickle some of you. A fellow wants me to convex his knife edge for him (not a big deal..it's kinda fun), BUT he also wants me to shorten the blade for him as well, and grind a striking surface on the spine. It's a Bk-2. 5.25 blade length, right? Well, he wants it at around 4.75 to 4.90. He was complaining that the length tends to get in his way--I said, "Well, sell it and get a 16.."..ah well..he likes the 1/4 thickness I guess (I love my 11's 3/16ths. Now, for all you knife guys and gals out there..how should I go about that--hand-ground, specifically. I've done it with knives with broken off points..but..that thing is thick, and heavy. Knowing my crumby luck it'll roll off my work-bench and land point-down on my big toe.
Here I am trying to better convex my double-bit and ding-a-ling comes along wanting me to do this mess.
I'll end up losing a finger yet..
Hopefully some of you can give me some good suggestions.
If it works..it could make for a interesting experiment. Maybe I'll even try to talk him into letting me modify the edge..convex on the front, scandi at the back.
