I got mine with black finish, double-cut, with black micarta I think it is? I put in the order awhile ago so I think when they asked me if I wanted double-cut I just said "sure." What is double cut?

The SS is one mean lookin knife, it's really started to grow on me, and once I get some kydex for it, it'll be my EDC on the weekends, and in the woods. I didn't think the shape of the blade lent itself well to camp chores and woodcraft, but my pops seems to think otherwise and was basically slobbering all over it, so I let him sharpen it for the first time.

Also, it seems almost as if the handles are becoming even darker after handling it quite a bit. Is this because there's residual oil on the grips? It will be sweet if they age and turn dark dark black.

I LOVE BUSSE!!!!

Congratulations on your first Busse!

I was introduced to Busse a few months ago, and it has dramatically changed my view on what a good knife looks and feels like.

Welcome aboard.

By the way, your knife is black crinkle coat with black micarta scales. The double cut is a blade finish that is a dull satin, i.e. no paint at all.

The micarta darkens as it absorbs oil and moisture from your skin. You can treat it with mineral oil if you want it to be all black.

Congrats on your first....I am very sure it will not be your last:thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats on your first Busse! It will NOT be your last.

btw, you might want to call the shop, and see if you really did order it double cut, or paid for double cut, but accidentally got standard combat grade black coating. They will be very helpful, say hello from all of us! :p

haha thanks for all the responses guys. This really is a great community you have here on the Busse boards! I'm sure I asked for it to be black coated, but I also remember something being said about double-cut, so it was probably just a misunderstanding. The black blade suits me just fine! So how much abuse do you think a scroffa could take being so small? Anyone else plan on EDC'ing theirs?

I wish I could get away with EDC'ing a battle mistress, but I work in a criminal defense law office after school so I don't think that'd go over too well hahaha!
