We went to the farm today for some R&R, target shooting and maybe pop a few groundhogs. The landowner and his wife are big time horse people. I got a chance while in the field to get a pic of some of their horses together. These are only a few of all the horses they have. Thought you'd appreciate these pics Matt. ;)

Well I count 11 or 12 there so if thats only a few of em then they have more than me! :D That means they have more **** to shovel too!
I've got a dozen here right now. Two belong to boarders and the rest are ours. I get stuck playing surgeons assistant tommorrow morning to geld/castrate the 4 colts and insure we don't have any more on the way. It was a close call the other day.

Those are some pretty pictures. Wish we had more open country like that around here. Its all chopped up in 5 acre lots now, drives me nuts.

Do your friends breed them? Show them? Just have em for fun? I'll always have a couple around whether I'm still showing or not. Its a lot of work, but they grow on you and get to where you wouldn't know what to do without em
Thanks for the pics

Matt, the farm used to be a full out dairy farm, but milk prices caused Grayson (the owner) to get out of the milk business. When he got married, his wife was a horse person and they decided to raise and yes they breed horses. As a matter of fact we were in the barn feeding to mares and one was pregnant. The 300 arce farm is in two areas and this is what we call the green barn. This is where all the mares are. There are about 20 on this part of the farm. Over where his house is, the main part of the farm there are about 8 stallions. They use to do horse shows but not as much any more. I live in steeplechase country. Lots and lots of horse farms. I think we have as many operating horse farms as regular farms. :D There's nothing like watching 5 to 8 horses running full out across the pasture. ;)

Having seperate facilities for mares and stallions is the only way to go. Otherwise you end up cutting some horny bastard out of a fence

There's a lot of horse farms around here too. 4H is pretty popular, and its also a really good area for quarter horse shows (which is what I go to). Not any big spreads like that though. Must be nice.
I agree too, there's nothing quite like seeing 4 or 5 horses take off across the field and stretch there legs. When I turn my 4 colts out together they'll run like that for an hour, just racin as hard as they can.
Well I better get out to the barn and get ready for the vet. I'm gonna offer to let her borrow a bowie knife  ;)
