This is one of the blades from my first caniter weld I did at George's this past weekend. I finished both blades today but, one's getting the guard tonight so no picture. The other one's a Claw and I think it's cooler than this one. Man, I gotta get a press now. I like this!

This one's gonna get a sweet piece of African Blackwood with a veracite throat and nickle-silver hardware.

You have done well my Little Grasshopper.;) ;) :D That looks cool. Lets see it was chainsaw chain, a little nickel, bandsaw blade, 1095 and 1084 powder. Was there anything else????  :D :D

Damn that looks good -- are you just hammering that stuff out or at least using a trip hammer?

 COOOOL
careful J IG would slip a kitchen sink in there
if no one was looking and maybe a Bud Can or two...empty of course :D

I gotta hand it to ya, J., that really is nice work! You have been hanging with the right folks there at IG's. Rats! Now IG will take this as a compliment! You guys going to build you one of those presses, or is that already done, J.?

Here's the other blade...this one's getting some presentation grade desert ironwood with a nice buckeye burl throat.

It was done on George's press. The can was mostly chainsaw chain with L6, 15N20 and 1084 powder. It amazes me how little waste there is with this method. I forged out these two, which are both 5 1/4" blades and still have a Crook-back (3 1/4") that I'm gonna finish after Ohio. All out of one billet that took very little time at all. I don't have a press yet but, I will soon. No doubt.

J. No pic.
John, it is skunks not rats.:footinmou :footinmou
Dan: I have a old cast iron sink that was down in my cellar and you are right it is going to end up in a canister.:p :p
