Here's one I'd forgotten I had

I'd completely forgotten that I had this little 503 until I found it this morning. I love the mammoth tooth inlays but I'd like it better without the bolster work. It's a nice size for dress up carry or to carry in a watch pocket.

Youve heard people say " I've forgotten more about something than you'll ever know"

Well youve forgotten about more knives than I have:D

Knice nife as always Plum

Dave, Great knife and find . But I must agree with you that the stamped bolsters detracts from the Mammoth tooth inlays . Its just too much eye candy . Had it been Mammoth tooth inlays and mirror polished throughout, would have been tasteful enough . Still, a very nice piece . DM

Well, no matter which way you slice it, Dave, that is a beauty.

I just love the toothy smile on that knife. However, I think the etching on the blade should have a hairy elephant and not a horse;).

Beautiful piece. Does anyone know how fossil ivory and tooth stand up to durability when compared to modern stuff? I've heard that from strongest/most durable down it goes like this:

Ivory
Antler (esp. Sambar Stag)
Bone

(not sure how fossil tusks and tooth fits in, likewise for modern horn)

Anyone know?

Plumb I think that one would have looked better with the scroll work on the bolsters instead. Would not throw it away though if it was in mine collection.:);):D HL
