This isn't the kinda thing we normally see from our custom makers. It's a wood carving knife that Matt of ML Knives has been working on !
It would likely make a handy tool to drop in our kits eh !!!

Only as long as you want to carry a dedicated carving tool, right?
Other than that it looks great. Which wood is that in the handle?

To quote Matt:

Another new design I have been working on is the carving knife below. This is a handy carving and whittling knife. To give it a good try I rough carved a spoon from ash. Let me say ash is a very tough wood to carve so this really gave the blade a workout. The spoon isnt finished and still is rough but it is almost to the completed stage before final sanding. More info on the knife. Hand forged 1095 high carbon steel. Blade length is about 2″ long by about 9/16″ wide..the spine is about 3/32″ thick and rounded to reduce thumb fatigue when carving. The knife pictured below has natural grained curly maple that has been oiled. The cutting edge was finished by hand on a combination of japanese waterstone’s and stropped to a polished edge.

I like the long handle to go with it. I have seen several knives that were carving designed that the handle was just too short.

A matching sheath that goes together like a fountian pen. You could skin a critter and make a spoon to eat em with. Thats got potential as a "pocket knife" for sure.
