Hey guys,

Being that I am fairly new to the knife community and higher end knifes I wanted to say that because of the awesome people on this forum that I have learned so much this past month about knives and CRK knives in particular. Being a person that highly respects quality products I've come to appreciate the quality CRK puts into every single knife. I've also become very fond of the inlayed sebenzas and although I do not own one.....yet, I can appreciate them very much. To me, there is nothing like a beautiful piece of wood and this is what has drawn me to the inlayed sebenzas.

I have been a drummer for 18 years and being a person that appreciates high quality products, I thought it would be cool to show you guys some pictures of some drums sets that have taken advantage of amazing and beautiful exotic woods that will blow your mind. I think the CRK guys will really appreciate the quality and exotic looks of some of these amazing pieces.

A cool story about one of these drums sets is that the owner of this company was looking for a new wood for a drum set and he ended up finding some birdseye maple logs that had sunken to the bottom of a river that had been apart of a logging operation. Though most logs float on to the destination, some will sink. He brought these birdseye maple logs up from the bottom of the river and dried them out and when this process occurred, he realized that the rapid drying of the maple created extra resonance chambers within the wood allowing the wood to resonate about 40% more which is very important for drums obviously, as more resonance will ultimately lead to a more open and natural sound. This birdseye maple ended up become a series of amazing and beautiful drum sets.

Dang those are insane!! If I may, what does something like that go for?

Well, say you get an exotic wood like one of the sets above with a lacquer finish, it would be around $10,000 for just the 5 drums, nothing else, no hardware, cymbals, nothing. If you wanted to get a complete set, the price of the 3rd set I pictured would probably run you about $16,000 +

These are the exotic woods though. I have a set from this company that is made from their standard maple which is the industry standard for high end live and studio drums, and that cost around $2,400 for a bass drum and 3 toms. The entire set with hardware cymbals, is probably about $6,000. Playing the drums is a very expensive hobby.....

DW Collectors Series -- doesn't get much better than that. And another CRK/DW similarity is, Made in the USA!!! I used to play a DW kit, and still play DW Solid Shell 13" and Edge 14" snare drums.

Nice man. I've had my collectors series maple set for 12 years now and it is one of the best things I have ever purchased.

You just need an inlayed sebenza that matches to carry while you play those! Amazing craftsmanship

What kind of set up did you have for your DW collectors series you use to have? I'm rocking a 18x22 bass drums, 8" piccolo Tom, 8x10 Tom, 11x14 tom, 5x14 black beauty nickel plated snare. I reallllly want a 5x13 collectors series snare 10 ply. Tony Royster Jr. uses one and it sounds like sex.

Drum Workshop is my dream kit in one of these fine woods. Luv maple. I've been hammering away for about 25 years myself. Thx for the awesome pix. Now I need to sell some Sebenza's to not quite afford one of these. LOL

It really is amazing the processes drum workshop uses to construct their drums, not to mention how many of those processes they actually invented themselves. I was lucky enough to visit the drum workshop factory when I was in California in Oxnard a long time ago and it was something else. Seeing them put together all these beautiful drums by hand was just the push I needed to buy my first kit all those years ago. What was really amazing was the show room because they had all these exotic kits set up with cymbals to play on. In fact, I might have a picture of me playing one of these kits and if I can find it I'll post it.

Maprik is a musician, hopefully he will see this. I'm not a drummer, but I can appreciate high quality, whatever form it takes. Thanks.

I have tried to learn several instruments anf have learned I am a listener. Hey if there are no fans who would the musicians play for, right?

That being said, I still recognize and appreciate the beauty which is quality, no matter what for it takes. Feom a finley tuned race car, to a sweet arse drum kit like you have posted I am amazed at shat humans can produce. Thanks for sharing!

Man, I wish I had a photo of my old ESP electric guitar. It had a flamed maple top and looked gorgeous. Not as nice as these drum sets, but also 15x cheaper :).

Thanks for sharing. Nice pics!

Wow those drum sets are gorgeous! Thanks for posting. I'd like to have a set just to have them to look at:)

Nice kit! Years ago, I was playing a little 4 pc -- 10/14/20bd w/ a 5x13 solid-shell snare. I kept the snare, but the rest of that kit is long gone. Now, I play a Tama Starclassic Maple in Blue Marine Fade, also in fusion sizes, either in a 5pc or 4pc config. I also play Roland V-drums.

Blackend -- didn't know you played! You're a multi-talented guy!

Ditto buddy. I play guitar as well, well, not as well as the drums!
We'll hook up one day my friend!

I have a buddy that has a Tama Starclassic in the sunburst finish, what an amazing kit. I'd really like to get another DW kit someday in a high lacquer finish. Don't even need any crazy exotic wood, as amazing as it looks because the maple DW uses is such a workhorse. Oh and btw, fusion sizes rock!!! My DW also has fusion sizes and I cannot get enough of them. Don't know if you have ever heard of Terry Bozzio but he is this ridiculous drum set player that is basically a 1 man orchestra. Here are some pics of his set for everyones enjoyment. Never having heard this guy play you might think his kit is for show but he actually uses the whole things, pretty amazing.....

I wonder how much that kit costs? GEEEEEEEZZZZZEEEEEE!

What makes me sick is the fact that he gets all his drums for free because he is sponsored by DW. Not to mention the fact that he has like 5 or 6 of these identical kits. I'd venture to guess that each kit with cymbals, drums, hardware is probably around $200,000 - $300,000 for each kit.
