I'm waiting to do the flat grinds until after the handles are 90% done. They are about 80% done right now. :D

Here's the pic:

Overall length is 9.5"
Blade length is 5"
Handle is 4.5"

Blade is 0.28" thick CPM 3V -

Whatcha think?

Fortunately 90% of the grinding work is done before heat-treat.

Yes - it is a TON of fun.....LOL

Hey Dan, how many belts are you gonna go through with that pesky little 10%:D
Heat treated 3v has got to be a nightmare huh

Man! You could use those for railroad spikes! I'd be interested in knowing the price on those babies, too.

Pricing starts at 260 for these, guys. You can see more info here: www.kosterknives.com/nessmuk.htm (at the bottom - yes, this is an old page, some links are broken).

Md25v - The worst knives for grinding are the Monster Nessies and Survivors by FAR...I've used as many as 10 belts on one knife. Adds up fast...:(

These aren't too bad on belts...it's more about finesse and making sure the finish is even before moving up to the next grit. (ie. pain in my neck, not my wallet...LOL)

Those look pretty damn sweet Dan.

ANy of those bad boys from my order??? Pretty please??? lol

Yep - the one in the pic with Natural Canvas Micarta and black liners (3rd from the left).

And....technically, the first one (the blank) is also yours - it's waiting for a nice piece of AAA Ironwood to show up.

Heads up, btw...a lil' package was just sent your way. ;)

Saweet...
By the way, thanks for making me read all of the game of thrones books and hooked on the series, I totally blame you :)

LOL! :p

guys...I'm about an hour to hour-and-a-half from the worst tornado winds in my area this week....wish us luck!!

Dan

Just hold on to those giant slabs of 3V as an anchor...
That, or just hold up a monster nessie and watch that twister turn tail and run:D

You ain't kiddin.....

I never thought I'd come anywhere need the 600lb limit my Steel Cart has - where I store my blades. But the other day I could barely lift one end of it up off the ground. There were about 400 fresh-off-the-waterjet knife blanks on it ....
