I saw on the news that another county in Florida, which is primarily Republican, had over 20,000 ballots thrown out for double votes. The local election commission didn't want to use the butterfly ballot because they thought it would be confusing. They instead listed the presidential candidates in single file, but it took two pages to do it. Almost 20,000 people voted once on each page! They also said that most of these votes would have went for Bush but since it has been more than 72 hours the Republicans can't complain.

People have a right to be allowed to vote. People do NOT have the right to not make a mistake. Allowing a revote would be a travesty. Will they let every county in Florida vote again. I will bet there are a lot of republicans in the pan handle that did not vote because the media proclaimed Algore the victor before the voting was done.

The fix has been on from the beginning. George W. had an uphill battle all the way.

I predict that Al Gore and his legal team will manage to steal the election.

I don't think anyone is going to 'steal' this election. It's so astonishingly close that there has never been a presidential election so difficult to determine the winner. There have always been problems with confusing ballots and confused voters. At some point soon (I think), probably next week after the FLA foreign absentee ballots are counted, one or the other of these guys is going to concede the election. I doubt seriously that courts will be asked by the candidates to determine the question about whether or not to give morons as second chance to screw up.

BUT, I have already closed and transfered other political threads to the politics forum in order to keep the general forum focused on knife talk, and to prevent unecessary animosity and bad feelings between people who should be friends even though they may have voted for The Other Guy

So... this thread is hereby banished to the Political forum. Sorry Jeff. I just want be set a consistent and fair policy on political threads in the general forum
