Here's two on my wish list... what other guns do I "need"?

Howdy all, I thought I'd start a fun gun thread.
I have two guns on my "to be purchased list", which means that I have determined a definate need for them, and kinda have SWMBO approval for them. They are: 1.) a turkey shotgun, right now Mossberg 935 is at the top of the list due to cost matters. 2.) A Smith&Wesson 642, preferrably with Crimson trace grips.

So, let's say Mongo wins the lottery. He is able to pay off all his business loans, his mortgage, car loan, sock enough away for at least two kids worth of college, AND buy a nice huge house with all the necessary toys for living on a lake that is chock full of walleye somewhere in northern Wisconsin or Minnesota. What firearms should I buy, and why?

Looking forward to your choices,
Mongo

Luger '08, Walther P38K, Browning/FN Hi-Power, Colt M1991 and Model P, Walther PPK, Smith and Wesson 627, 945, SW1911, and 4566, Beretta 92FS, Glock 17, HK USP Mark 23, that old model single action Sig-Sauer, Broomhandle Mauser, and a Desert Eagle.

Beretta Silver Pidgeon, Browning Citori, Browning A-Bolt .30-06, Springfield M1A, Colt AR-15, Marlin 795, Anschutz target rifle, Marlin Cowboy .45-70 and last but not least an Ithaca 37 classic. :)

You are going to need a deer rifle for Wis/Min., get a Blaser LRS or Sig SSG3000 in .308 and you can shoot them from your porch. :D

Get a Sako TRG42 in .338 lapua for the long shots.

Crap, forgot to add... I already have two 1911's, both Colts. After shooting 1911's, I really have no desire for any other kind of auto. Revos however, are a different story. I do hope to add to my 1911 stable though... looking at an Ed Brown bobtail commander as a dream CCW piece. Nothing plastic for me... Glocks etc make me wanna :barf: .

I used to live in the U.P. of Michigan and was always in the 'woods', never needed any pistol bigger than a .22 L.R.

AMEN

Though I wouldn't rule out the Smith 4566 (Sonny Crockett's gun) or Walter PPK (mr. Bond) :D

Check out the Smith Performance Center Revolvers, if you can find a PC 625, 627, or 629 you've Really got something.

1. Colt Python, 6", blued
2. LP08 ("Artillery Luger") with Trommelmagazin, wooden stock/holster etc.
3. A good .308 sporter with a 4x 'scope (so you won't be tempted to shoot at things at ludicrous distances...)
4. A good (Anschutz?) .22LR bolt action
5. A quality .22LR target pistol (Hammerli?), so you can stop shooting lots and start shooting well ;)
6. A beefy-calibre lever action with a tang sight. I always wanted one. Don't know why. (No, wait! It was Steve McQueen in Tom Horn!)
7. A vintage sporter with iron sights. Preferably a Rigby in .275 Rigby (7mm Mauser to you Colonial chappies ;) )
8. An M4 (so you can stop shooting well and start shooting lots...)
9. And a spare room for when I come to visit!

I have little time for shooting anything other than my department-issued Glock, but I admit I've always had an entirely irrational desire for a Mauser.

You know, the big broomhandle model (in 7.65, of course) that Churchill liked. Big, clunky, "mechanical"...But kind of cool. Hell, the Rocketeer had one...

Mongo, ya gotta have a Browning High Power and ya gotta have a Ruger MK II .22 automatic.

Mongo,
since you like revolvers, don't forget the new Ruger Super Redhawk (I think it's called the alaskan Guide or somesuch) in .454 Casull with a 1 or 2 inch (forget which) barrel.

This is just in case your home is ever invaded by Kodiak bears or Cape Buffalos.
And since you're a vet, you will have plenty of gauze and splints around for your wrists........ :D

Since you already own 1911's and appreciate the platform, a .22 LR conversion would be in order. The Marvel is the best, don't go for anything less.

And probably a good .22 LR bolt action might be necessary, the CZ 452 American is quite popular and is very accurate.

Actually, a properly choked 870 will kill any turkey that ever walked. The 3.5" is a bit more than really necessary unless you are a waterfowler.

12 gauge, double barrel, John Wayne commemorative coach gun.

Yeah, I've been thinking about a BHP... but is it blasphemy to get it in .40 S&W? Hey, if John Moses Browning designed it, it can't be too bad. I already have a Ruger MK I .22

Thomason, I like the idea of that coach gun... but that one is a little too bling for me!

Maximus, I'd dearly love to have a .45-70 guide gun in stainless... don't know why, but I'd bet it'd be good bear medicine.

What?, no AR or AK fans????

1911s are nice if you like something heavy that only holds 7 or 8 rounds, and that jams more often than you want it to. But they do look pretty.

But I guess plastic guns are "ugly," so I understand. :)

Hmmmmm, let's see. "something heavy" = something to use as a club when out of ammo. Wouldn't want to try that with a Gluck.

"only holds 7 or 8 rounds".... I WILL put my 8+1 into COM+/- head consistently. You can spray and pray with your puny plastic 9mm all you want.

"jams more often than you want it to." NEVER had a "jam" with either of my Colts. However, the last time I tried a Gluck at the range, had multiple "jams". Just not acceptable.

"but they do look pretty"... Yes. Yes they do. Hard to beat that beautiful Colt bluing.

"But I guess plastic guns are ugly, so I understand"... Good to see we agree on something. :D

(off to don my Nomex underpants for all you tupperware lovers)

Nothing wrong with the BHP in .40 S&W, I guess. I had one, and it was ok. Recoil was a bit sharper, of course. But I much prefer the BHP in 9mm.

I think we can help you with this. Here's the list:
SIG SAUER P226
Ruger 10/22
Barrett M82A1 .50 cal
Remmington 1100
Walther P22

Let me know when you get everything on this list. I'll add more. :D

The funnest gun I have is my Valtro PM-5 12 guage with a 14" barrel and ghost ring sights.... :D Very fun to shoot, and with its 7 roung removable magazine, its quite unique. The only problem is that spare mags are pricy...

A Henry Big Boy in .44mag (solid milled brass reciever, walnut furniture) and a Super Blackhawk, also in .44mag.

Or maybe a Spas 12 and a gyrojet...

Or maybe a pair of integrally suppressed Rugers, a 10/22 and a Mark II, tricked out with some high speed red dot sights. You could etch "Squirrel Bane I & II" on the barrels.
