So here's a few shots of the knives I was working on for a while and took to the Pasadena show this past weekend. They're all functional knives at this point and my best to date, but they need a lot of work still to be presentable in my mind.
The first pic is of the J.MacDonald Knives class of Feb, 2006 all hanging together on a hunk of granite. There's a 12" scale for reference. After that, there's several pics whowing the different knives in several settings.
They are as follows from top to bottom:
Camp knife - 12" overall with 6" blade from 3/16 stock, hollow ground, 01, black G10 scales. Double choil allows for a comdortable choke up grip for finer work.
Greenie - 7 3/4" OAL, 3.75" blade, .125 stock, flat ground, green canvas micarta handle slabs.
Fattie: 7" OAL, 23" blade x 2" tall x 3/16 thick! Flat ground with black G10 scales, this knife is built to be tough. The three holoes in the ricasso combined with the thong hole make for great lashing holes to make a spear.
Shark Tooth: This knife is made with a short but stout 3/16 01 hollow ground blade . It's got a generous handle of red and black laminated G10 that allows for tremendous control of this very tough knife.
On the side:
This is a 7 1/4" long integral necker made from 5/16 01 stock. It's sleek, stout and sharp.
I'm pretty hapy with this batch. It's still a long ways from where I want to be, but it's also a long way from where I started
