I committed heresy yesterday, and modded a Lum design. Bob Lum was an incredible designer/maker, and to mess with his designs is to mess with perfection. However I just couldn't hold back. Had an old user Chinese folder Nishijin, and had botched some mods a couple years ago (sanded down the scales, added jimping, stonewashed the blade). Chopped it down yesterday, and I'm lovin it so much I'm eyeballing my ti handled Chinese folder (chances of me fuckin with this beauty are slim to none tho, don't worry!).

I'm digging it but it seems to be a bit wide.
Have you thought of going to a more pointy Wharncliffe or lambsfoot shape (lower spine) over the tall sheepsfoot?

Nice looking work, and a smooth looking piece.

Thanks Bill - I was originally planning on a pointer Wharnie shape, but ended up loving the wider sheepy shape as I was grinding her down, so I left it! I'm thinking about copping a large Chinese folder, as they're still around in pink, and dyeing the g10 black plus modding into a smaller Wharnie.

Nice, the wider tip does lend to keeping the spydiehole from looking "too big". As well as continuing the flare from the handle forward, giving a nice organic look to it.

Again, good job.
