I just stumbled on this knife maker from Poland. The Herman Sting 385 in MagnaCut is tempting.

Anyone here have one they can comment on?

BTW, that website is a different story. They add a large margin, and shipping is expensive. No idea where else to get Hermans, I just noticed for fixed blades that I was interested in.

I read the other threads with videos. Shipped to the US, a Sting in MagnaCut comes to $800.

It’s a very compelling knife but also a bit steep in Shirogorov territory.

This beauty just arrived. The Herman Sting in MagnaCut. Overall, my expectations are met. It’s finished to a very high level. Fit is drop shut and flick open with authority. In sum, a very well made knife. My only nit to pick is how thin the lock bar stock is. Much like my Shiro NeOn. But the contact is clearly adequate and finished to a degree I haven’t seen elsewhere. Value is subjective but well into the custom market at $800 shipped.

I much prefer the cleanliness of that one vs the rainbow ones I've seen. Lockbar looks healthy to me, just beveled at the front.

I'm still partial to your laconico but that Herman is the cleanest I've seen. Congrats!

The colorway is a bit out of my usual boring black and Ti lane but this isn't too garish. I’ll EDC this Herman Sting for a while but my Laconico EZC is the pinnacle in flippers for me.

I have about 20 folding knives now. Production, mid-tech and custom. It’s a pretty nice cross section of what’s out there now.

I've never seen one without textured handle.
How would you compare it with the Neon?

I would have liked it to be textured. The handle is thicker which I prefer. Ergonomics aside, fit, finish, ease of opening and closing are all on par with my Shirogorov HatiOn Zero. Aesthetically a better comparison is my Jens Anso Neo.

I need to correct my earlier post. The lock bar on the Shiro is twice as thick as the Herman’s. Yet is clearly a design choice on Herman’s part as it is very solid and even machined for a finger grip. It doesn’t look like a cost saving measure from an engineering POV.

That Anso looks amazing! What a piece

I own a lefty Sting. Fit and finish, action, detent, you name it, are great.

Yes, the flipper tab is not the greatest, but you can engage it in a way that doesn't hurt. The Sting is the perfect edc size. Nevertheless I am hoping for a lefty Dragonfly. In the right configuration that is an instant buy.

I have 3 Hermans, Two are spectacular, the third is OK (Lock stick, Lock bar at about 50%, Occasional flipper not wanting to flip) (it is my kick around as the blade is great!) . If I didn't have to send it to Poland I would send it back to the maker, I know he could fix it in a couple of minutes. The other two are spectacular

Its another nice high quality option ,interesting design, too.Handle shape is different.

They would fix it for sure. I sent mine in the past and great experience.
