Herman Surivors'- What happened?

Discontinued AFAIK.
That's what the guy told me when I bought my last pair...
@ $40...closeout.

I had a pair of those a long time ago. Loved them...They were the ones that started my boot wearing days. Too bad you can't get them any more.

Hi All-

That company used to make top-of-the-line footwear before going decidedly downmarket. Haven't seen them in years.

I found a comment on an online search some time ago that said the company name and operations had been bought by Wal-Mart:(
Had a pair of "real" Herman Survivors, and they were probably my all-time favorite boots. I wore them until the soles were worn completely through. The boots themselves were fine, never a busted seam or split stitch.

Same experience here. I got mine at a surplus store in '80-81. I went through the town and looked for the store a couple of years ago but the whole area had been redeveloped into art galleries and coffee shops.
