Hero Brand

Does any one have any information on Hero Cutlery? I have a very nice 4-bladed mother of pearl pocket knife and can find nothing in the knife books I own, or on the internet. This knife if I had to guess may be 60+ years old. It was manifactured in NY but thats about all the info I have.

The only reference to Hero in Goins is that it was a brand used by Wimberly & Thomas Hardware, c. 1898-1939. Goins lists it as a German brand. Often times, especially before the 1891 laws, foreign-made cutlery was stamped with the name of the importer in NY, which gives the false impression that it was made in NY. Hero post-dates this, so if it was made in Germany it should have Germany stamped on the blade. Of course, it could be an entirely different Hero brand.
