ABC New's person of the week featured an soldier in Iraq who engaged a cement truck bomb with accurrate machine gun fire, causing it to hit an obstacle and detonate 100 yards away from its target hotel. For most of the segment, it was a chest-shot of the soldier, and what was really annoying for me was his empty knife sheath on this right chest. I was of course wondering what he was carrying, and toward the end of the segment, there was a 1 second side shot that showed a handle (all I took in was something with thick stock, handle slabs, and definately not a symmetrical handle).
So my conclusion is that the TV producer at the scene told the soldier to remove the knife, so as to not shock the audience that soldiers are actually equipped live and fight. Anyways, if anyone else saw or the will see it later on the west coast or on digital televison, I'm interested in what the knife is.
