Here is a knife I recently finished. It is inspired by a George Herron pattern medium Bigby. I made it a little more utilitarian by removing the guard and making it all one piece. The blade is 52100, triple quenched, triple tempered to 60 Rockwell hardness (super sharp). The handle is black canvas micarta with stainless corby bolts.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Here is an original Herron Bigby skinner for reference.

Here is a video of me cutting some 3/4 inch hemp rope, paper, and leather.

Looks good to me - you nailed the handle and I like the incorporation of the guard.
I assume the tang is tapered, did you radius the spine?

Mr. Herron's designs were always spot on!

Thanks. The tang is tapered. The sharp edge is knocked off of the spine, not quite radiused though.

I'm surprised how comfortable the handle is. The flared grip fits right in between the middle and ring finger. It looks pointy but it's not. Feels good.

Not much to add, but I do like the way it turned out. I was going to say with as large as the handle is compared to the blade, it would be nice if it were tapered, but you already thought of that!

Thanks. The tang is definitely tapered on this one.
