I have a few Herron knives I had made and purchased directly from George in the late 80's (#s 411, 571, 572, 573). How many knives did George make, anyone know? Also interested in current valuations although not selling. Last info I have on values is through correspondence with Barbara H. in 2007, so any updates would be helpful.
Thanks,
stlwineguy

There is a BladeForums member with quite a collection of George Herron knives. "Fliprfly" is his screen name here. To share his knives and information, he maintains a photo site here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23623603@N04/sets/

If you can't find the answer in any of the articles posted there, I'm sure he'd be happy to answer a private message or email.

Regarding values though, if you read the 'rules' here at Bladeforums you'll see that only Gold-status members are allowed to ask about values. Too many non-paying members fishing for buyers for their knives I suppose.

Good luck in your quest.

Sent this on the Gen Discussion thread and no responses so trying here. I have several Herron knives made for me by George in the mid 80s. Curious if anyone out there knows just how many knives (precise or roughly) George made and, even more concisely, number of knives he made of each of his standard offerings. I'm not really a knife collector per se, but he was an incredible knife maker, artist and just all around interesting Southern gentleman. Fortunate to have a chance to meet and correspond with him over a few years.
Thanks for any help on this.

You are a fortunate man wineguy! A few years ago, I viewed an extensive display of George's knives at Blade, and the owner knew Mr. Herron well.

I do not recall his name, but I suspect there are some members here that can perhaps provide the information you seek.

Good Luck,
Peter

You might want to get in touch with Wayne Hendrix. I believed he apprenticed under Mr. Herron and adopted that style, if not the patterns themselves. He may have an idea about how to answer your questions.

This is most likely not possible to find out. NO maker keeps records of each of their standard model offerings grouped like that, at least not those of the Old Guard. Knifemakers are extremely gifted craftsperson's, but tend to lack a bit on record keeping as you are requesting. Bobby Branton would have some insights, and posts here frequently.

Good luck and Happy New Year!
