The old goat survived an 1,800 mile trip. Last Friday driving up I-95 we were in the worst rainstorm I've ever been in . Rain was being driven almost straight in on the windshield & the wipers on high couldn't handle it. At one point we were traveling 23 mph & I wanted to find an exit ramp for an escape hatch but by the time you were able to see one ,it was too late. A few beercan cars whizzed by & vanished. My forearms & shoulders are still sore from my death-grip on the wheel for close to 4 hours straight. Just saw on T/V that New Jersey is still getting it & there is industrial-strength flooding .
Lighter-side, 93 YO Auntie had a nice party . We were able to find a gracious Southern lady who made a 20 [ TWENTY ] layer chocolate cake for us . The layers are about half of the thickness of a pancake -- a crepe or palichinka in thickness so overall it was only about 4 & 1/2 inches tall. Great !
Was able to get vinegar based, mustard based & electronic cooked bar-be-que & it was really good with greens & black-eyed-peas . Brought 4 cartons of "Q" back & shared with our son. He treated his crew lunch at the shop he manages .
We were blessed with a safe trip & great fellowship but it is good to be back in " Hurricane Alley ". Wife'll tally up our visa & give me the news but , at our age , we savor each day & are heeding our son's advice --- spend their inheritance !
Somehow, a good fairy endowed me with a gold membership . Thank you but I guess I'll get a bill soon ? Now I get in the Cove ?
Mark won & I couldn't have been more pleased.
Missed getting abused here but I dish it out too,I guess .
Regards folks !
