I carry a Jess Horn Lightweight and it's a great knife. Recently, I helped a friend choose and buy a Jess Horn Micarta.

Today, I was showing my friend the Spyderco Sharpmaker and for the first time, really compared our blades.

The grind on my lightwieght is probably about 1/3 of the grind on his micarta. The edge takes better, and is far and away sharper than my lightweight. I was astonished at the difference and will try to post a side by side pic here in the next day or two.

So the question is:
Are the blades on the lightweight inherently different than the micarta? Can I do anything to get this much better blade grind in my lightweight? Can you guys help?

Thanks,

Allerian - They should be the same blade out of the same steel. I would be interested in testing the Rc on both.
