i just got my second HEST(last one was stolen) today and i think its more amazng then the first:D
and thank you KSF for being so fast

How was your last HESTstolen seanystrangle?

i was hiking and a dude knocked me over when he "fell" i go t up and helpped him up he hugged me and thanked me and walked away after i got back to our car i realezed my wallet and knife were missing i had them both in my back pocket :/ i went backand looked and found nothing but leaves sticks and rocks lol

The hug didnt seem suspicious to you? Is that normal in wyoming? Down here in the south if someone tries to hug me in the woods it may strike me as a little weird. I dont let someone get that close to me who I dont know, espically in the woods. Maybe its cause i'm from new orleans and if someone gets that close to you down here then you'll end up stabbed or shot.

lol im not sure i have not been in wyoming long but in arizona we hug everyone all the time i think its because hispanic culture like being close or someting so i really didnt think twice

"was hiking and a dude knocked me over"

Next time slip yer damn HEST into yer palm when you see a stranger walking the other way in the boonies. Lets get a perp description, last location and a bounty going!

Well, at least it was only a sub-$100 lesson.

I've had much, much more expensive ones than that!

What an assclown; makes me want to beat the crap out of something, thieves pisses me off.
Sorry to hear about your getting taken advantage of. Glad to hear you got yourself a new blade.

I would worry about your house for the next few months.
Dude has your address and you already proven to be a target.
Anyone brazen enough to do that to you in person would now have you on his B & E shopping spree wish list.
Had you realized he robbed you on the trail and challenged him or caught him in the act this could have gone very badly for you, you were not prepared or aware.
You seem like a trusting guy, or a mark as these jerks call nice regular folks
. I am not trying to insult but educate. If that guy had priors and was looking at 3rd strike..... no witnesses, lots of rocks and hollows........
That guy was ready to go at the slightest provocation, theives amp up their adrenaline, expect violence and react, he was ready to go to war.....You were on a nice hike.
Hugs from strangers just does not wash in this day and age IMO
I grew up in a rough neighbourhood (sucker punch central) and don't let anyone inside of an long arms reach without a hard look/comment or just backing away a little.

Your story gave me a you lucky SOB chill up my spine.
I am serious, make sure your property is secure and ramp up your mental and physical preparedness.

On a lighter note, enjoy your new hest my friend

with best intentions and regards

Brad

Had my GPS stolen, realized the same problem. Installed alarms and motion lights, moved a short time later. Didn't really like the place anyways. Now I set my car's GPS to a house down the street.
