"Delivery is still supposed to be early May. First production models will be with a Kydex folded sheath similar to the RC4 sheath. The knife will have micarta slabs attached to the knife. The capsule will come later and be injection molded from polyethylene most likely. The later sheath will also be injection molded and more like the curent Izula sheath. We are doing our best to get this thing to market in a reliable, durable form that you will be happy with. I will update when we have more. Mike"

I found this a while ago and was wondering if they are still planning on making the capsule and sheath for the HEST. Do any of you have info on this? thanks

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't end up making the capsule--they had a prototype capsule at SHOT last year. I don't know about the sheath, though. :)

What does the capsule look like? I mean, isn't the chamber inside, a capsule of it's own? Wouldn't a capsule just take up more valuable real estate in that tiny area?

It was snap together plastic pill that you could hide up your ass.. I kid you not. Wiser heads prevailed. The Kydex sheath proved to be perfect although I would make it smaller for none Molle use

Yea the kydex sheath is good but if I had a smaller one I would carry my HEST more often.

They were...actually...going to make that...? I can see the use, I have friends who have gone all the way globally and see the need in some areas, but...Who exactly has the expertise to design that, let alone promote it and make a profit? I'm not doubting it's possible, but the sick half of my my mind is curious how it can actually be successful. If there is a genius out there who can make people look at a magazine ad and make the average consumer think 'I want to shove that right in there', I want to invest in this man's ability.

I'm curious how the newer molded sheaths will affect the price, I'm not sure how much is saved by the molds.

oh...I see...the whole survival suppository thing I think we can do without. Putting the capsule inside the handle and then cord wrapping over it (like the prototype at SHOT last year) seemed a good idea though, since it gave you a good means of storing cordage on the knife. :o

Well Jeff came up with the original idea of shoving the whole knife up and I thought was too difficult for a quick draw ;)))) Jes kidding but the only place you are gonna hide money is where the sun don't shine. Jeff was up to a whole roll of quarters before I told him to stop or he would hurt hisself.

No I like the current hollow handle, does everything it was meant to do.

Next version of the "HEST"will actually be the same amount of real world thinking and quality put into a heavy duty service blade..the "HEFT" (Hostile Environment Fighting Tool)
