It depends on who you order from! Some dealers may get (or have asked for) more than others, and some dealer's pre-order list is already full/filled.

It seems like if you can get on somebody's list for a first run, you may have a chance for Christmas. Otherwise, second production run is in Feb of '11, I think.

Someone else chime in if I'm wrong or have new info! :)
I'm waiting on my 2 pre-orders as well :P

I think imcq has it right, some dealers 1st run lists might be filled and others may not. As long as you get on a dealers list that still has the 1st run open you might be in luck. Id call up the different dealers and ask if there 1st run list isn't filled up yet.

Does anyone have information about the LE folders?

I assume they will be shipped out with the first run?

RYP,

I thought that the LE versions would be distributed by DPx itself?

That is why there was some confusion as to when they would be shipped.

Yes Fuzillade, its better than that... I am personally making sure that everyone who ordered and paid for an LE version gets a knife, certificate and goodies. Call me Santa Claus. Thats why I take it personally when somebody gets up in the Kool Aid about the commitment behind this product. I am also one of those customers eagerly awaiting my Christmas gift!

The regular production HEST/F knives will be shipped to DPx dealers who will then ship out the orders as befits their process.

Thanks for everything RYP.

I assure you, you are doing a great job.
I think alot of people are just having a radical reaction to the recent news
of the ESEE/DPx split, and are just trying to find something to gripe about.
I would completely ignore those who are confused/bent out of shape about
the whole thing, as it is getting blown way out of proportion.

Thanks again RYP, and I look forward to a great product.

Fuz.

I have no issues with the split and believe you are going to do great on your own. I think the knife is going to be awesome and I am excited about it getting here. I ordered 2, one is a production and the other is a LE.

My question to RYP is about when do you think the LE will get here? I am not looking for an exact date but I did order the LE hoping to give it as a Christmas present. It is not the end of the world if it does not make it, but it will change some of my plans for gift giving. Sorry to ask but this one was a big important gift for someone who has had a rough year. Regardless of the delivery date I still want the knife.

I also wanted to say thank you for taking the time to be involved in the forums and answer questions. I know it is difficult with your hectic schedule. Having a direct line to the designers, owners and makers in a forum like this is a priveledge that is very much appreciatted.

Keep up the good work:thumbup:

Whitty.

Will keep you in the loop and will have an answer this week. I am involved because its how I work. If I vanish for an extended period you know why but I will check in when I can

Whitty,
That is a post with class, and I mean that seriously!!!
Best regards & MERRY CHRISTMAS..... :)

PS/Thanks again for making me aware of the ZT 0551 the other day. I scored one and it is sweet.....

Whitty,

I'm glad you haven't been affected by the split, but it has pretty much wrecked my life.

My roof started leaking the day the split was announced. All of the milk in my fridge went sour, and the neighbor's dog started digging for moles in my yard the next day. Will RYP cover this under warranty?????? I kind of doubt it. And I bet the tax bill would have been straightened out if the split had been better handled, but I guess we'll never know.

I used to run a medium sized mail order business, and loved all my customers. We kept our competitors' numbers handy to give to the especially obnoxious customers. And who could not love the one who called in after reciving her package to complain about the amount of styrofoam peanuts in her box. The goods had arrived in fine shape; she just felt that we hadn't sufficiently filled her box. I sent her a box full of foam at no charge; customer service at its best. She also wanted us to use clear tape instead of brown; I could not follow her reasoning on this, but since we had both, I used both on her package.

I am excited about the folder. I missed the release of the Lionsteel SR-1, and am looking forward to having such high-quality knife at such a low price.

Are there any differences bbetween the first production run and the second?

I don't mean to be a pest (even I got tired of seeing all the "when will the DPXf ship?" posts), but is there any sort of ball-park on when these things are shipping out?

I've got a couple of goodies that were supposed to ship and be here before Christmas and so far two of them have had their status updated to "back-ordered" and the new dates for each are probably going to push the delivery back to after Christmas.

Really want this kick-ass knife before then, but I understand that you're working with over-seas suppliers, etc. and only so much is possible. Still a guesstimate of when they might possibly ship would settle the now crack-addict like shakes a bit :D

I don't think you are going to get a production folder before Christmas. Mostly because its up to the dealer to get the knife out to you and they are all working overtime getting all their orders out. Apparently it has been a big month for the knife business and everyone is swamped.

That's my bad man - I was specifically talking about the LE orders - screw the rest of those guys (just kidding production-order guys, I only got in on the LE orders because the Mr. DPX tool looked cooler :D ).

jonesjp, I am so sorry this has happened to you, but I for one reaped great benefits from this split . . . . . . . . free dinner compliments from my wife . . . :D
(Long story if you are not familar with it . . .:) ).
Be safe.

I did note that you had won dinner. I'm very happy for you.

I am, like everyone else here, psyched about the release of this knife. I appreciate that RYP and RAT can sever business ties while maintaining friendship and respect; I think that is a sign of good things. RYP has some great ambitions for DPx, and it is pretty neat to be participating in what we all hope will be an historic release.

I placed a microtech out on the porch to handle the neighbor's dog, but I guess the "automatic" feature wasn't working, as it just lay there. I plan to use my HEST/F to make some figure 4 traps for the moles. Oh and to open the box it comes in, of course. It should be able to do that, right?
