HEST sheath rattle?

The HEST has become my primary knife for my overnight trips, and I love it. The only problem that I've had with it is that it rattles quite a bit within the sheath (and I've even tried moving the screw to the tighter configuration). Is this a common thing? The lock up is tight... but the sound can get a bit bothersome on hikes. I'll probably end up getting an aftermarket sheath made for this... but I was just wondering.

Mine does the same thing. So I bought an aftermarket one and I need 2 hands and a foot to get it out of the sheath. I hope you have better luck haha.

Same issue-it got to the point where it wasn't just an annoying rattle, but also negligible retention. I made my own low profile leather sheath for in pocket EDC and haven't looked back since.

Mine does not make any noise at all. I HATE, ABHOR, DESPISE, LOATHE knife rattling. So, if it passes my inspection, I'd figure everyone was ok with it.

I have mine in the stock sheath with the belt clip attached and I wear it inside the waist.

I also have a nice leather belt sheath for it that I use when I'm out in the woods. I REALLY like that sheath.

But, I've got mine with me right now and I'm shaking the heck out of it with no sound whatsoever. Maybe you guys got a different run of kydex sheath or something ???

Well, you could always try using a heat gun to soften up the kydex and press it together with the blade inside. If you have the necessary tools that is...

i pocket carry mine and get a rattle. not too worried as of now, i carry at work and rattle is not an issue. i keep it on the work table unless im using it. batoned some pallet wood last weekend to cook steak and its still razor sharp. i should be doing the same this weekend. then it will go back to the sheath and dont see any worries...i have not tightened the screw yet...dont see the need yet..

i would try the heat gun and press it back if you want it tighter. if you need foam to press it go to walmart or a sporting goods store and get a foam hunting pad. should be able to get one around $5.
just cut it in half and put it between two peices of wood and you have a cheap kydex press.

have not noticed any rattle to date..I have not had mine for that long I can't say what would happen with a little more use or carry

Styrafoam works for me, but I've had no luck with reforming the kydex. I mean, if I can form fit my 800 dollar speedskates I should be able to form fit my little kydex sheath... I don't know. I just think that it's not utilitarian enough for everyday use that I've been putting it through-if I can avoid spending money on molded plastic/kydex, I will.

My two HESTs don't rattle, but since they are handle heavy, if I hold the sheath and shake it, the knife moves a little.

That said, I carried one of those two HESTs horizontaly for two weeks camping and hiking and it never fell out.
