HEST triple wrap - 17 feet of paracord

This is my first post here. I have been looking at the different wraps and decided to put a triple wrap on my HEST to get as much paracord on as possible. I just recieved my order of 1000 feet of the cheeper stuff (still pretty good) and decided this was probably as good of first post as any. I estimate that I used about 17 feet of cord. I started out with 25 feet because I wasn't sure how much I needed then ended up having to cut off about 8 feet or so. This wrap really feels good in my hand.

I placed the cord through the hole between the blade and the handle to keep the cord just for the picture:

Thoughts...Comments...Stupid thing to do? :eek:

EDIT: I replaced the blurry image of the completed wrap. I also added a lanyard knot which can be placed under the cord on the sheath for added security.

well, I've never once thought... "I wish I had LESS paracord!" :)

Cool idea, but it sure looks bulky. I might've stopped at the second wrap.

How does it handle anyway?
 
Seems to handle pretty well. I like the extra bulk. Even though I have small hands, it fills my palm. I guess it would be a matter of personal taste.

I gots meaty hooves, and it looks great to me. I might actually try that on one I got and need more cord and grip on. Thanks, great first post. Don't make them your only ones. Moose
 
Nice post!! I would not have thought about a wrap like that!!! Keep it up and keep up the posts.
 
it doesn't look very tight, but i'm sure it'll absorb alot of shock. Try soaking the 550 chord and stretching it before the wrap-i bet the wrap would be much tighter, and very consistant.
 
Well, actually, it's very tight. While taking the pictures, it loosened up a bit but before starting again, I tightened it up. I started to get cramps in my fingers. :eek: We'll see what happens when I get it wet.
 
+1 for paracord sweaters.
Also, nice wrap job man, let us know how it holds up.

I think the wrap looks great man! I kinda like how it looks after you finished the second one though.

Thanks. I like the second one too, but I like the way the third wrap gives some bulk to the center of the handle.
