hey, 9"discers out there! a little help

hey i just got the 9" disc anangle atachment for tru-grit to go with my hardcore var, but no revese. ok i already chewed up the ricasso on a harded blade :confused: do you work only half way? from top to bottom or across? i know i will have a curved ricasso wheni stat fresh. i ask this Q last time about north south and going across the disc and didnt get a anwser. any tips would be helpful thanks

Not being able to reverse is a problem, but you can live without it. I made a bunch of knives on an old Sears 6 X 48 with a 9" disc. I would not try working only half of the blade and then trying to match up the ricasso. Man, that would be hard. One thing you can do that will really help is, take that disc to a machine shop and have them put a 1 degree taper on it.

I assume that you use your 2 X 72 and a flat platen to begin with?

well A.T. i belive if has a angle don't know if its i-3 degrees. now do you work only half? blade up as useaul?
