hey Becker heads,I need help!

I picked up my first becker,a Bk-14,a few weeks ago.I was not happy with the egde out of the box.It was VERY dull.I sharpened/reprofiled it and got it shaving sharp,put it in its sheath and carried it for a day and it was dull again.My question is will sheath rattle cause the edge to dull out? I am at a loss?
 
The sheath dulls the knife. Taking it in and out. The 14 is a great knife, get it a custom sheath and don't look back.
 
You are not alone! This is a known problem. a couple years ago Ka-bar reduced the amount of fiberglass in the formulation of the sheath to help eliminate this problem. Owners have developed a number of strategies to deal with this. Not sure exactly what terms to search under but there's a lot of info on this. I'm sure others will have some helpful suggestions.
 
Got an Azwelke sheath for my BK11 coming in the mail soon. Got tired of my factory sheath dulling it and gave up on it breaking in enough to stop.
 
Thanks guys !!!! I just got my eyelets in the mail today so I will make a sheath tomarrow.I do like the knife but I thought I was crazy for a minute.I actually threw it in the trash and dug it back out a hour later:D

The 710 custom sheaths. Hes a forum member here. He does amazing work. If you ain't happy with your sheath, give him a yell, and tell him bsmith_shoot sent ya.

That's a great looking sheath, I would love to get something like that, but one that goes on a belt for my bk14. From what I've seen 710 does great work.
 
I want to thank you guys again. I made a sheath today and I hope that this is the end of my problem. The sheath I made is nowhere near as nice as that 710 sheath but it works and hopefully it won't dull the edge.I touched up the edge and put it in its new sheath.I will carry it tomarrow and see how it goes.

Is that 14 stripped, and/or did you coat it with something new? With the lighting in the picture, the metal looks to me like it's almost the same color as the cord wrap and kydex. I like how they all match (or appear to from here).

I did strip it and it has a good patina building from cutting limes,onions and garlic. I have a earlier pic with out so much patina and black 550 cord.It now (in the pic above) has OD green 550 wrap.It was stonewashed under the coating and darkened up from use in the kitchen.

haha,I won't even tell ya what words came out of my mouth every time I went to use it after I had shapened it to shaving sharp put it back in its sheath only to find it was dull after NO USE AT ALL!:DI'm taking the 14 to work today to make sure the problem is fixed.
