A little over a month ago I took out a balisong that I had bought a long time ago, just a China Cheapie (actually it's a Rostfrei and I think they're Italian, nobody laugh please...) and hit the web, hoping to find some online instruction for using it. Well, I didn't find much, but strangely enough this one site, www.balisongxtreme.com kept popping up everywhere. So I went there. Note that I didn't even know how to open the thing. Well, I usually look around alot and try to collect info from various sources, but Clay is the man, you guys! You rock dude. His site is really all you need to learn it all. I quickly made my way up to the intermediate level and am kinda getting into the advanced, although I don't really fancy the concept of catching spinning blades. And even though I learned a trick or two from www.balisong.com, Clay is one bad dude. I think if I get a decent balisong and keep practicing I may get to be as fast as he is (yeah right...) but I need to get better before I try any of that aerial stuff. Any advice on what sort of balisong I should get? I would like to get a Benchmade, but I think I should probably try to keep my budget under $100 here. And anyway, I could have emailed you Clay, but I just wanted to brag on you. That kind of technique takes alot of devotion and passion. I hope I get that good someday. Anyway, I await any replies. And by the way, the technique in my sig is actually real and I can actually do it. It's probably not really my unique trick, but I've never seen it done before. Maybe I'll find a way to make a video clip of it. Thanks you guys. And keep those blades spinning!

Hey dude, thanx for the compliments. I'm glad the site has been of some help to you.

This site sells Jaguars cheap:

I recommend the DF-201. For about $20, you can't beat 'em.

And please make a video of your technique. I'm sure we'd all like to see what something with a name like that, looks like.

Hey no problem. And about the Single Flip Catch Twist Single Flip Twist Double Flip Triple Twist Balisong Opening technique, it starts out with a latch handle opening similar to the way you do it, flip and catch it with your index finger, flip it over, letting the handle twist in your hand and then flipping back to a ricochet off the back of your hand, then around again (similar to your latch handle start technique in the second level intermediate section), then you simply do a double flip out to in opening like shown on www.balisong.com and then instead of flipping back and open, you flip it down like the second step a basic vertical opening, and then finish with a double flip as shown on balisong.com in the intermediate section. Not all that special, it's just an amalgam of a few moves that I have seen. Not any really innovative tricks, but just a different way of combining a few techniques. Maybe I'll start with a finger snap opening, do a little two hand work in the middle, and then end with a full twirl and one of those flashy backhand over and catch throw moves of Clay's. Heh. World's longest balisong opening. Anybody else out there got any neat new tricks? And Clay, how about some of that finger snap and double hand opening stuff? You never do any of that stuff on your page. Is there a certain reason? Please don't take this the wrong way, as it's not meant to offend or anything, but it seems like alot of the techniques you do are a more modern and Americanized techniques, as opposed to traditional Philipino techniques. Perhaps they are even more effective and effecient then the original style, and you should commended if so for exposing the public to such advanced technique. But I'm still curious about the pure Philipino style. How about some more traditional stuff, such as the finger snap, two hand switch opening, and some more backhand grip moves? Just a suggestion. Peace.

Sorry to disappoint ya' there Maelstrom, but I don't really care about traditional Philippine techniques.

I taught myself everything I know so I could add it to MY style. I'm a student of Japanese and Korean arts, so that might be the answer to your question.
