Hey there. I had bought a bushcraft knife from you a little while back, and I have to say it is the best knife i have ever used! The question i have is, how do I take out a little nick in the handle (green micarta), and smooth it out? I tried a little sandpaper, but not sure how coarse it was. Also, the beautiful copper pins look so nice with this knife, but one of them got brushed by my sandpaper, and was wondering how to restore the original look. The one pin is shinier than the other ones now. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Thanks for the question.

You can use 120 grit paper to get the nick out, then hit it with 200 grit paper to smooth it out.

With the pins, "go backwards" in grit. Start with 400 grit...if that doesn't get it out, then go to 220 grit....then if that doesn't work, go to 120 grit....etc. Then work your way back up to 400 grit. You will need to do this to all 4 pins in order to get them to appear "equal".

Hope that helps.

as for the pins though, is there anything I can do to take away the shininess? you know, make it dull like the other pins. thanks again

yes and no....

The pins are bead-blasted. If you have access to a bead-blaster...then yes.

Otherwise, if you want that "satin" look....you can always rough it up with a red scotchbrite pad....which will give it a brushed finish.
