I'm trying to recall the name of a knife I saw a few years (4?) ago. It was made by Al Mar Knives. Was a folder with a liner lock. Had a slender 6" blade and was around 12" open. Opened via a thumb stud, believe the handle was either aluminum or zytel? Handle was black and ventilated. Might have been in an article from the now defunct Fighting Knives. Believe it was their largest folder. Police back up knife? Thanks for the help.

I have one like that. It is called a Quicksilver. It is a nasty little beggar in that it kept coming open in my pocket and I kept almost cutting my fingers on it. I tossed it into the back of my drawer where it rests to this day, I believe. It had silver colored stainless steel, ventilated scales and, in the early ones like mine, no lock to keep the blade closed nor a pocket clip.

Hi Ben,

I remember the Quicksilver, pretty slick looking knife.

I guess someone in China thought so as well and I have a cheap knockoff of it I got for $20 from Bud K a few years ago.

The King of Sweden was out hunting in the woods with one of his assistants. As they looked around suddenly there appeared in the clearing another man. The King raised his rifle. The man shouted "I'm not a moose!" The King fired a shot and killed the man. Stunned, the assistant said, "Sire, he said, 'I'm not a moose.'" "Oh" said the King, "I thought he said, 'I am a moose.'"

Well, I at least remember the knock-off

. I know Jim March refered to it several times before, but I never really took much intrest in it so the name elueds me. Go back into the Spyderco and Camillus forum at go through the old mega folder threads. I'm sure you'll find some reference to it there.

Sincerely,
Adam

Self improvement is a hobby of mine :).

I had one of the smaller ones,I think the blade was 3 1/2".It had no detent in the liner lock and was a pain to open.

The Knifecenter had the big ones on their specials page about a year ago.

I had two of the QS models. One was machined (?) vented stainless on one side...stamped metal with integral pocket clip on the other.
Gave it away as the look repelled me....bought the one without the clip. I don't know how many times it came open in my pocket. No serious injuries, though..just lots of little ones.
Was forever sharpening it...think it might have been AUS6 steel.

Was the big one called "the Jumbo" ?
