Hey everyone, new on this board obviously. I'm a 28 year old guy living in Arizona, in a suburb of Phoenix. Love it here, largely in part to the lack of knife laws (or gun laws for that matter)

Certainly I'm not as uber-hardcore about blades as I'm sure some of you guys are, but I fancy myself a bit of an enthusiast. I have a growing collection, and taking a big interest in metallurgy, the different steels out there being used for different knives for a particular purpose. I own the black KABAR 7" 1212, which is my goto. Carry it with me everywhere, and it's come in handy more times than I can count. I LOVE the 1095 steel. It's held it's edge like a champ for over a year now, and it's easy to sharpen. I also carry on me the Microtech A.D.O. (I can tell based on some forum reading that a lot of you aren't a fan of Microtech.) I did feel I paid more for it than I should've, and it's only 440A (though it looks like it's treated correctly) but I like the blade. It's got a specific purpose and the quick deploy sheath is very nice. I also own the SOG Seal Pup and it's large 7" variant. I did some scuba diving when I lived in CA, and used the Seal Pup as a diving knife, for which it performed fantastic.

I'm now looking into the Cold Steel OSS. Does anyone own it and can give me a review of it? Been reading some mixed things about the San Mai III steel, on whether it's worth the extra money, and how it holds up over time (chipping, edge retention, sharpening). Can anyone fill me in?

Glad to meet everyone in advance! Thanks guys!

I can't help with the cold steel questions, just wanted to say welcome to the forums!

Welcome brother, I am a big, long-time CS fan but have no experience with the SMIII blades. AUS 8a blades are good in the folders and fixed blades...touching up the edge now and then and not whacking on the spines too crazy.

Welcome to th forums man!!! I call my self niner.

Nice to meet ya!
