Hey Fellow Buck Fans

It is high time for me to introduce myself – I have been hanging out, mostly anonymously except for an occasional post and knife purchase – for awhile now. My real life name is Greg.

I am an unintentional Buck knife collector. In 2019 I was searching the Bay for Leatherman tools, my collecting focus for years at that point. Somehow, I stumbled upon a listing for a used Buck 2-dot 112 knife. That was a cool looking knife, soon to be my first. I wrote in my notes about the knife “Hopefully I don’t get carried away” with Buck knives.

Well fast forward to today – I have quite a collection of Buck knives, if I don’t say so myself. My primary focus is on the 110, with a secondary focus on the 112. My ideal knife would be a 112 form with the size of the 110. Along the way, I have dabbled in many other models, most tending to the larger models.

Just when I think I have acquired a substantial amount of knowledge about all things Buck, I am humbled by the depth and breadth of knowledge exhibited by those that frequent this forum. I learn something new almost every time I peruse these threads. I am also amazed at the wonderful knives collected by members here, many that I had never seen. Clearly, some of you have been at this for quite a number of years!

Nearly all of the knives I purchase go directly into my collection. I can only carry so many, my EDC rotation currently includes: 110 Elite, 040 Onset, 500 Duke, 590 Paradigm and 843 Sprint, as well as one of several Leatherman tools.

Now that I have introduced myself, I hope to engage more often with all you all.

Hello Greg, welcome, enjoyed your introduction.

I know there have been threads about how each of us came to be here and/or about our first Buck knife. I'm sure if you comb through with the help of a search you can come up with a few...if you're interested.

We love pictures and there are amble opportunities for you to do so, so let's see some of yours.

Greg, welcome.

+1 on the enabling. And the photo sharing.

And I think there's a good number of us that have more knives than we can easily carry and use - personally if I picked out a different knife for carry/ use each week it'd be over 4 years before I returned to the first knife. Yikes. 🤣 I really need to move some knives along.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am already a long ways down the slippery slope of Buck Mountain. I don't seem to have a tendency towards addiction to chemicals but sharp steel is another matter. By the way, I am of an age when I should be thinking of selling off my collection rather than building it...I prefer to think of it as an act of optimism.

Welcome Greg. There are a bunch of nice people here on the Buck sub forum, but they're all a bunch of enablers. Do your wallet & credit cards a favour, and forget you ever heard of this place.:)
This is probably the best advice I will ever receive on this forum but am too weak to follow.
I do have some knives worth sharing photos of...now if I can only find them. Really need to follow through on my plan for organizing and displaying my knives, seems like a good summer project.
