Been a Busse enthusiast for some time, been posting in their forum here for a little while, but haven't ventured far yet. The upcoming rattlehawk looks like it will be my first Busse-kin but I also have Scrapyard 1311 on order.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in here and show my face, ugly as it is :)

Welcome DanBo! I hope you enjoy your stay here! :)

Good Lord do I hope that you are right about that. :)
Welcome to the Swamp the water is warm.

Welcome, Dan.

I too have the 1311 on order...really want that bad boy.

And the RH is a very sweet way to experience some Swampy goodness...

Here's a photo of mine..

seriously awesome man  I can't wait

Is the entire top edge sharp?

"Sharpened", but only the main cutting area at the head of this thing is paper shredding sharp. A little time and elbow grease would bring it all into silly sharp, but I like that the top is a bit dull. Safer that way.

So, you can flip it upside down and hammer with it that way. Very nice.

You could use it to say split logs by turning it upside down atop a log and hammering the €#]+ out of the bottom of the handle, but...not my first choice, either.

The topmost edge would make for a good scraping tool. Not for every application, but some.

Right, not literally hammering on it, just use that top edge, with an upside-down grip, to impact into something if you needed to for say breaching or whatever else. Probably why they left it semi-sharp.

I haven't thought about uses for the upper-most edge of the Rattle Hawk. But we together have offered a few.

I can see the RH being used for everything from falling medium and small trees, to scraping ice off the sidewalk when you break the handle on the shovel.

I also think someone could build a rudimentary "canoe" with this tool. Chop, pry, scrape...and so on. Not that I ever would. Just in theory.

As for tactical uses, the mind races with possibilities. Same for practical and emergency uses. The KDSH fits this too.

Hunters have their applications as well.

So, if a tomahawk inspired tool is for you, I'm thinking the RH is not a bad way to go.

I am so going to build a canoe with mine. I saw a couple guys attempt to carve a canoe from a log on that "Dual Survival" show with the redneck and the hippie. As I recall it took them a looong time and it didn't end up floating... but then, of course, they didn't have a Rattlehawk.

I'll start scouting for logs now...

Cute...a "redneck and a hippie". Hahaha. : )

As for the canoe. I'd start with testing the log. By that I mean if a 400 lb log can float itself, then if I widdle it down to say 100-150 lbs, can it still float a load of man / men and gear

Because the log can float a mass greater in weight to itself, the math gets complicated, but not too confusing. Can solve the riddle, or just research a bit to know what log to source before getting started.

I'm ignorant to it all...
