I just received this Stag Peanut in CV today!

Not a whole lot to say about the knife itself right now, but after I carry it for awhile I think that there will be a ton of praise.

Here are some photos for now. I am comparing it to a Large CV Stockman that is a regular carry for me. The interesting thing about the Peanut when compared to the Stockman is that in the main blade, you only lose about 3/4" of cutting edge.

There are two things that surprised me about this knife. One was how small it was when I shook it out of the "Case" box. And the other was the fact above about the cutting edge.

I don't see it being just a "small knife."

With only 3/4" of the cutting edge being gone when compared to a Large Stockman, it seems as if it'll get the job done JUST FINE!

The only thing about this knife that doesn't do it for me is that I am not proud of the price that I had paid for it. But I can tell already that it will be carried everyday, probably for the un-forseeable future, just do to its size. It doesn't matter if you're carrying other knives around, if you have a Peanut, it seems like there's never any reason not to carry it. It'll never get in the way.

Thanks man.

I was really looking at the Stockman like the one that you have. But I couldn't justify spending the money on two knives, and I have really been wanting a Peanut with all the talk that goes on around here about them.

BTW, this just in. The blade on the Peanut is only 3/8" shorter than the main blade on my 3-5/8 Medium CV Stockman. This knife is small, but I seem to be getting stuck on the fact that its "not that much smaller" than the usuals that I carry.

I think I'm really gonna love this knife.

And the Stag is excellent! Pricey though.

beautiful little couple you have there. I have always wanted to lie very small knives, but I just find them uncomfortable for whittling. Second, I have found them a pain in food prep. Just a bit too small to split an apple without getting covered in juice. Maybe one day :D

Funny that you should say that about the apple cutting.

I was contemplating the same thing earlier, but for me, if I am going to eat an apple during the day, I plan for it. There has never been a surprise apple yet. And even if there was a surprise apple, then wedges or smaller chunks would be the solution.

I dont think that in an industrial environment I would carry a Peanut alone and nothing else. There are just too many things that I have run into in my ~3 year career that require a longer blade, if for nothing else but safety and efficiency reasons.

I can deal with a small knife while eating an apple because I am eating and taking time means I get to enjoy it longer.

edit: I apologize for my impoliteness-I should have thanked you for the compliments at the beginning! So, thanks! I have been enjoying the Large Stockman for the time that I have had it. If I post around here and I am referring to my Large Stockman in CV then that is the knife that I am talking about. It's been a great companion and I keep going back to it. I especially love the thin blades and the knife's overall versatility. I feel like I can carry nothing but that knife for anything that I do-hunting, camping, work, relaxation and never want anything more.

Interesting point Thalestin brings up about apple splitting. The small knife I use for this is a GEC 25 E-Z Open with Spear blade. I find a broad blade even when small copes well with apples rather than a long slim blade.

Very good combination shots of the Large Stockman with Peanut, really shows a lot.

looks really nice, mooth stag looks strange but in your case it also looks good
man is that "short" (not small) compared to a 4" (right?) knife

will have to check one one day, nice evening edc?

I should clarify that. The size of the Stockman is of the 4-1/2" variety.

I love the way it looks, the Peanut is a very useful and practical pattern I've been thinking about one for awhile but I think I may get one in the less expensive yellow derlin.

Nice peanut collection Ray. That's why I like my sway back jack, it's small enough to not notice in the pocket yet big enough for anything I need to cut.

ray,

that is an awesome picture, i am very jealous, one day i hope to have that many different peanuts, made my day to see your photo.

thanks
sam

I like the grey one thats above the g-10 Peanut.

Very classy looking. It'd be nice if they made it in CV though.

i keep coming back and drooling over the pictures of this peanut, and i'm gettin the itch, i have a feeling my wallet is about to lose some weight, cuz i'm gonna have to get me one of those.

thanks
