Hey guys i need your help on choosing my first fold or fixed blade! I hope it would be the right one on the first buy! I was thinking of the Buck 110 or CRKT 2000 for my first folder or fixed blade but if you guys have any better suggestion please share!

Also do any of you guys or girls know any good knives stores in the Niagara Falls area?

Reason why i post here is because when i made my first purchase for my multi tool, i got plenty of help from the multi tool section and it made my process of purchasing the right multi tool a lot more easier! So thanks for the help guys!

BYE!

Do you have any criteria? Leaving the question open like that is going to net you an awful lot of different answers.

I don't know about fixed blades, but for folders I know people here swear by their Buck 110s. I've never used one, so I won't touch on it.

But yeah, without anything to go on, it's hard to make a recommendation

my price range would be $50-$80 CND

Well i want some nice quality steel with good aesthitic feel to the handle. I need something that is reliable and durable backed up with good customer service.

I would pick the Buck 110 over the CRKT . There are some original 110s still in service . The SAK OHT ( one handed trekker ) might fill your bill , and SAKs are very sheeple friendly . Spyderco Delicas and Enduras are a good bet . Le Baron in Miss. stocks both and gives pretty good Canadian pricing . Customer service is great from all these companies . Le Baron also has goob mail order service . ( since you quote Canuck bucks - I assume you are in Canada ) . Hard to narrow it down more without knowing your applications .

Do you know if this website is trusable? www.houseofknives.com?

Also I have been very interested in the Spyderco Delica but its a little out of my budget but iheard many great reviews about the knife so i might just over spend a little on the budget to get a quality knife! (Maybe)

But witch one might be the best bang for your buck the Delica or Endura?

+! Spyderco is great! I would get an endura vs the delica. I edc a full size Spyderco Manix everywhere I go.

Spyderco Native from Wal Mart. $40.00 S30V everyone gets one eventually. :) Cant say enough good about mine. Best bang for the buck period and on and on and...

A Fallkniven U2 as a small folder(excellent EDC)
A Fallkniven F1 as a fixed blade.
Spyderco`s are recomended as well.Calypso Jnr,Dragonfly or Native would do as a first Folder. The Spyderco Bill Moran Featherweight Drop-point as a fixed blade.

I think that you will be more than satisfied with a Buck 110. For the price, its hard to beat this classic knife. Keep in mind that there are different sheaths available depending on where the knife is purchased. Leather, nylon, nylon variant that allows for horizontal or vertical carry. Also, there are many custom open top sheaths out there for reasonable prices. Check this one out from the Custom Shop. Clic the pics!

The sheath is from a custom maker.

Well i have thought about it, the spyderco would be lovely to be purchase but unfortunetly we Canadians (The Spyderco Delica cost about $80 here) still have to pay more for the exact same item as American (Spyderco Delica $50 in America). I would of loved to be able to purchase the Delica but I think i am going to buy the Buck 110. Reason why is that its only $60 here and i can get it right away. Thanks for the help guys!

Question for the Buck 110 users!

Does the Buck110 have a locking mechanism?
Is that model still made in U.S.A.?

Yes and Yes , BTW how do you plan to sharpen your baby when ya get it home ....

Chris

I carried the Bucklite for many years. Similar to the 110 but cheaper and lighter. Nowadays, I think the Victorinox Trekker is a better choice. Of course, if you are already carrying a mult-tool, the 110 should be fine.

Chris raises a good point. A fine knife that is dull is no good to anyone. You might consider allocating some of your budget to a sharpening system. You already have a one-handed locking knife in the Wave. Every knife enthusiast needs a way to sharpen.

A new Buck 110 will stay very sharp for a long time with average use. They are hair poppers right out of the box.Congrats on your choice.

if you want a good little fixed blade you can try any Frosts Mora knife from Sweden! under $15 very good knives
